actively engage in community service, workshop, speaker, and training opportunities. I started
volunteering at a local food bank in Ypsilanti by helping to create food bags for community members to
pick up for their families. In addition, I am volunteering with Corner Health to create an annual fundraiser
with Michigan’s School of Public Health to help raise funds for the organization.

Projects & Presentations

Poster Presentations:
I have presented posters for my summer internship at Camp Hamwi to present my work at the camp as
well as my apex products. Some of my apex products included alternative food plans for the camp based
on the survey data that was created and given to the campers, as well as; recipe cards that campers can
used at home.
Abstract:
I am developing an abstract for my work study position at the University of Michigan Public Health
Department to present our findings from the structured questions that engage students’ perceptions of the
helpfulness of the scaffolded learning approach and how their confidence in counseling progressed
throughout the semester regarding the new motivational interviewing course for Dietetic Master Students.
Pilot Study:
I am working with a medical student to create a nonprofit organization responsible for providing
prescribed food boxes specially tailored to patients with chronic illnesses like obesity. These boxes would
be prescribed to patients by a physician and given to the patient via our organization. I am helping to
create diet plans for these boxes and alternative ingredients to use for the patients to make these foods. I
also helped create videos showing how to make these meals.
