Protect your roof against hail

Upgrade your roof and apply for a $3,000 resilient-roofing rebate.


In partnership with: The Resilient Roofing Rebate Program is available to homeowners who are
replacing their roof with an impact-resistant product to protect their homes
from severe weather damage.

Eligibility Requirements
My property is a single-family, semi-detached or duplex home.
I am in good standing on my property tax roll.
I replaced (or plan to replace) my roofing with a Class 4 impact-resistant roofing system.
I used a contractor who is a member of the Alberta Allied Roofing Association (AARA) or
ARCA Alberta Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA) at the time of installation or have a roof
inspection report completed by an approved AARA or ARCA roof inspector, confirming

proper product and installation.
Confirm you qualify for the rebate using the eligibility tool on calgary.ca/hail.

To participate, homeowners must:


1. Complete the Resilient Roofing Rebate Application form located on calgary.ca/hail.
2. Replace roofing in compliance with the Resilient Roofing Installation Checklist,
including using a Class 4 rated roofing system that meets the impact rating for
UL2218 (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) or FM4473 (Factory Mutual Approvals).
3. Submit proof of purchase for the roof replacement (semi-detached properties require
receipts for the full roof replacement of both homes) and third-party inspection, if applicable.
4. Use a contractor (or third-party inspector) who is a member of the Alberta Allied
Roofing Association (AARA) or Alberta Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA).

Important dates
■ January 1, 2022: The rebate program is accepting applications from eligible
homeowners who replaced or plan to replace their roof with a Class 4 impact-
resistant product. Homeowners who have replaced their roof (and meet
the eligibility criteria) after June 1, 2021 can apply for the rebate.
■ May 31, 2022: Year one of the program will end on May 31, 2022 or when funding is
fully allocated, whichever occurs first.

The form can be viewed in Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi,

Resilient Roofing Installation Checklist
The following items must be complete when installing a Class 4 rated roof system.
Remove old roof covering, repair/replace damaged roof sheathing as required.
Install new material on clean, dry, and fully sealed sheathed deck (taped seams or fully
adhered membrane).
Use continuous underlayment throughout.
Products are a Class 4 rated roof system that meet either UL2218 (Underwriters
Laboratories Inc.) or FM4473 (Factory Mutual Approvals).
Starter shingles are used at eave and rake edges to provide a double seal against wind
or as otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
There are six nails per shingle or as otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
Remove and replace damaged drip edges.
Install valley flashings, as required.
Install ice and water shield at lower drip edges.

Acceptable roofing materials include but are not limited to:


■ Asphalt shingle ■ Metal
■ Clay tile ■ Plastic / polymer / composite products
■ Concrete tile ■ Recycled rubber
