Assalamualaikum warrahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Praise and gratitude to the


presence of Allah SWT, thanks to whose mercy and blessings i was late in being
guide in completing the writing of the paper “ASKING AND GIVING OPINION”
which we wrote to fulfill one of the assigments in the english subject.

We admit that in this simple paper there may be many shortcomings so that the
results are far from perfection.

“No craked ivory” we hereby apoligize profusely because there are stil so many

CHAPTER I UNDERSTANDING

UNDERSTANDING
The definition of opinion is an opinion, idea or thought to explainaparticular tendency or
preference towards a perspective and ideology. However, it is not objective because it has not
received confirmationor testing. Even though it is not a fact, if one day an opinion can be
proven, that opinion will turn into a fact. Asking opinion is asking other people'sopinion on a
problem. Giving an opinion is giving an opinion or expressing an opinion about aproblem.

OBJECTIVE

• Distinguish between giving and asking for opinions

• More able to form opinions

• Expressing a problem

• Can provide thoughts or ideas


CHAPTER II DISCUSSION
Opinion sentences are dividd into 2, namely asking and giving opinionsopinion asking for
opinions linguistically, asking means asking, whileopinion means opinion/opinion. If these two
words are combinedaskingopinion”or asking opinion means”asking for an opinion” or”askingfor
anopinion.asking opinion is used when you want to ask or need anopinionfrom someone else.
There are many ways to ask for opinions in English, examples are

what is your opinion? (apa pendapat/opini kamu?)


what is your idea? (apa idemu?)
what are you thought on…? (apa pendapatmu tentang?)
what is your pint of view? (apa sudut pandangmu?)

Giving opinions Giving an opinion is an expression of giving an opinion about something,


orresponding to someone who asks our opinion about something. The following are several
examples of giving opinion expressions that canbeused:

I think I like it. (I think I like it.)


I don't think I care for it.
(I guess I didn't care about it.)
I think it's good/nice/terrific ...
I think that is awful/not nice/terrible ...
I don't think much of it. ...

B, I have a plan to go to the beach this afternoon. My family wantstoseethe sunset, what about
you?
A, well, I don’t have any idea. Before you go to the beach, why don’t wegoto the mall?
B, I don’t think it’s a good idea. There’s a haffic jamalong the street, alsoitis going to rain this
morning.
A, but… I’m really bored, naz
B, would you agre with me that playing games are interesting?
A, of course
B, let’s play at my house. My father just bought me a newvideogame.

CONCLUSION & CLOSING
The conclusion is that asking is used when someone wants to askfor anopinion, while giving is
used to give someone an opinion. askingandgivingopinions is a method used when carrying out
daily activities, usuallywecannot escape from this expression.
