Getting Started Tutorial

Follow this easy step-by-step guide to set up a


placement group, add test takers, and assign the
test for the first time.

Visit our shop.
Before you set up a test, you will need to visit our shop to buy Oxford
Placement Tests or Oxford Placement Tests for Young Learners. To
access the shop select the ‘shop’ tab at the top of the page.

Ok, let’s get started.
First, we need to create a placement group so that we can add our
test takers. This guide shows how to set up a simple placement
group where no test taker details are needed. For other placement
group options, see ‘Create a placement group’ in Help and Support
• Select the ‘Admin’ tab on your ‘Home’ page.

• Now, scroll down to find ‘Manage Groups’ and select ‘View’.

• Select ‘Create placement group’. Choose ‘Adult’ or ‘Young Learner’
depending on the test you want to try.

• Next, give your group a name.


• Select ‘Create’ and add the
number of places you need
in the box.
• Select ‘save’ and then in
the two pop up windows
select ‘OK’.

Great! You have now set up
your first placement group.
Now we have our placement group with test takers in it, you
can add some details for them. You can skip this step if you
don’t want to add or don’t know your test takers’ details.
• Select the ‘placement group’ you created.

• To add your test taker’s details, select ‘edit’.

• Next, add your test taker’s first and last name.


• Select ‘save’, and then in the pop-up windows select ‘OK’.

You now have a test taker
in your placement group.

Now you have created a placement group and added test


takers, let’s assign them a test.

OK, let’s assign a test
to your test takers.
• Select the ‘Tests’ tab.

• In the ‘Assign Tests’ box select ‘Assign’.

• Select your placement group.
• Select ‘next’.

• In the ‘Assign a new test’ section, select the test you want. Either the
‘Oxford Online Placement Test’ or the ‘Young Learners Placement Test’
• Select ‘next’.

• Select your test taker from the list, then select ‘next’.

You will now see a test settings screen.
• Select ‘next’.
• On the next screen, select ‘confirm’.

information about test settings.

• Select ‘download & print’ to get the test taker’s sign in details, then
save them to your computer.
• Open the document you have just downloaded to your computer
to see the test taker’s sign in details.

• You can send the downloaded details to your test takers by email or
you can print them out and give them the login slip.

You have now succesfully:
• set up a placement group
• added test takers
• assigned the test.

When your test takers have
finished, check their results.
• ‘Sign in’ using your teacher/administrator details.
(The username and password you created when you registered,
and the organisation ID you received by email)

• Select the ‘Admin’ tab, scroll down to find ‘Manage Placement Results’,
and select ‘View’.

• Select your group from the drop down menu.
• Select ‘next’.

You can see your test takers’ results here.

Print or send them!
Now you have your test takers’ results, you can print them out or
send them by email.
• Select your test taker(s).
• Next, select ‘Print / send results’.
