DIS bags awards in the DSPC

Diffun West Central School was abuzz with excitement as the young journalists of Dumanisi
Integrated School took center stage during the District Schools Press Conference at Diffun West
Central School on March 17-19, 2023. Led by their ever-supportive School Head, Roderick A.
Tadeja, and the strong DIS teaching staff/coaches, the team brought home an impressive array of
awards.

In the Elementary Department, Nelson A. Ortiguez III brought home the 3rd Place in Editorial
Cartooning English under the guidance of Coach Myrna C. Bueza. Meanwhile, DJ O. Lazo
clinched the 5th Place in Photojournalism English, and Jimwell James Gatiwan landed 7th Place
in Photojournalism Filipino, with Coach Mirasol Ortiguez leading the way. Princess Palattao
snagged the 6th Place in Sports Writing English, guided by Coach Laarni F. Mendoza, while
John Michael Henry C. Bueza secured the 9th Place in Copy Editing & Headline Writing English
with Coach Welma T. Curammeng.

In the Secondary Department, the team brought home even more awards. Michael Angelo L.
Dichoso and Janica Ashley Delos Santos brought pride to their school with their 2nd and 3rd
Place finishes in Sports Writing Filipino under the guidance of Coach Jennifer James.
Meanwhile, Irish Dimple Noveras, Jhanelle Cabonitalla, and Jezrielle Ann Apostol swept the
2nd, 3rd, and 4th Places in Sports Writing English with Coach Fredelyn Clavel leading the way.

In the Copy Editing & Headline Writing English category, Rhoxzanne Paj-Had and Kryzel
Ayado clinched the 5th and 6th Places respectively, while Michael Angelo L. Dichoso, Lysa D.
Taberna, and Krisha Mae Verano brought home the 3rd, 5th, and 7th Places in Copy Editing &
Headline Writing Filipino, guided by Coach Coralyne Salinas. Archie Svin James and Mark
Anthony Manzano landed 2nd and 3rd Places respectively in Editorial Cartooning English under
the guidance of Coach Fredelyn Clavel, while Villa Theresa Yadao brought home the
championship in Editorial Cartooning Filipino with Coach Jennifer James at the helm. Claudine
Guyo and Krisha Mae Verano also landed 6th Place in Science and Health Writing Filipino
under Coach Jennifer James' guidance.

In the Science and Health Writing English category, Apple Mae Nantes brought home the 3rd
Place, while Kyle Andrei Fariñas and Michael John Baliao landed the 1st and 2nd Places
respectively in Photojournalism English. Meanwhile, Laarnie Mea Palattao and Johanna Faith
Pumalo clinched the 1st and 2nd Places respectively in Photojournalism Filipino, guided by
Coach Angelica Lazo.

The DIS TV Broadcasting Team Filipino emerged as champions, with Elyn Joy Espiritu as
anchor, Reychell Ann Tablada and April Joy Dichoso as field reporters, and Moises Carl
Catungal as technical director, under the guidance of Coaches Angelica Lazo and Janice
Palattao.
The DIS teachers also brought home awards, with Mirasol Ortiguez securing the 1st Place in
Photojournalism English Elementary, Monaliza Alba landing the 2nd Place in Feature Writing
English Elementary, and Fredelyn Clavel clinching the 1st Place in News Writing English
Secondary.
