WEEK 13/14 REPORT

1. PACK HOUSES - AVOCADOS

a. Afrupro Packers
i. Testing has started and I await the moisture test results.

b. Poplar Creek
i. I will set up a meeting to visit the pack house once moisture content starts testing ready for
picking. This should be closer to week 16/17, but I will confirm closer to the time.

2. AVOCADO GROWERS
a. Johan Immelman
i. There are no new developments on this front. Johan has been traveling between Tzaneen
and George. They are in the process of setting up ripening facilities in George, so he is a very
busy man, but we keep in contact telephonically.

b. Grysappel Trust – Ian Fourie

i. My meeting with Markus van der Westhuizen went very well. Unfortunately, due to the hail
damage I’m only going to get +- 500 picking lugs from them – this will be 350 lugs (+-200
cartons) Pinkerton and 150 lugs (+-100 cartons) Rinton. This is basically no volume to work
with. I’m working on getting Pinkertons to fill the container.

c. Malungani Group – Morokolo (Broederstroom & Magoebaskloof farms)

i. As per the email of today, they have confirmed volume of 4 containers. 2 will be packed
during the coming 2 weeks and the other 2 will only be from week 25 onwards. I really hope
we get good prices for them because we will definitely take volume from Westfalia if we do
well.
ii. I’ve told Kamohelo that I will be traveling to Tzaneen next week to be there when they start
packing. I’ll be there to make sure everything runs smoothly.

d. Poplar Creek Farm (Pty) Ltd

i. I spoke to Dawie again yesterday and he has confirmed that we will be getting fruit from
them, but it’s now just a matter of whether it will be 1 or 3 containers. The owner, Eugene is
still deciding, but they still have some time as they will only be ready for picking in 3 to 4
weeks from now.

e. Henry de Pradines
i. Nothing further on this matter, waiting to finalise Poplar Creek.

f. Blacknoll Farm
i. I’ve sent Peter Vereecke a sample purchase agreement, which he has received and said he
would go through it. He is currently very busy with his Macadamia’s and is not in the office
very much. But all indications are that we will get some fruit, it’s just a matter of how much.

3. CITRUS GROWERS
a. Grown4U
i. I sent through our requirements to Snyman, but I haven’t heard back from him yet. I’ve left
a message and will follow up again.

b. Golden Ridge
i. Michal Ehlers was open to us tendering for their fruit on a weekly basis. We need to submit
pricing, Ex-Works, every Thursday and by Friday we will receive an email confirming our
order or not. Please can you send me weekly pricing on the citrus so that I can send it
through for consideration. Prices need to be ex-packhouse level.

4. PINEAPPLE GROWERS
a. Pine Gold
i. Pine Gold is out of production until Sept / Oct. I will maintain communication.

b. Cassie Bardenhorst
i. I haven’t had any feedback from Cassie yet, but I will follow up with him again for next
week’s order. Please confirm that we are still looking for between 1 000 and 2 000 cartons a
week.

5. KUMQUATS
a. Rooister Boerdery
i. Rooister who only wants to do air freight will deliver to JHB. So his price is €4.20 ex-OR
TAMBO. Payment terms are 50% on BOL and final payment 4 weeks after sound arrival.

b. Julika Boerdery
i. Julika (the biggest grower) is not interested in any airfreight and will only do business if we
can share a sea freight container with Agrilink. Julika’s price is €4.30 ex-packhouse, so I need
to know if this is going to be possible. I’ve also attached the sample purchase agreement (air
freight) for your approval. Payment terms are 50% on BOL and final payment 4 weeks after
sound arrival.

6. PASSION FRUIT
a. Grysappel Trust
i. Ian and Hilda Fourie have around 1-2ha of passion fruit, Ester variety. However, they will
only be in production in 3 months’ time.

b. Stilhoek Boerdery
i. I’ve given through the pricing (€9.00 CIF - as discussed with Lorenza) to the grower and await
his feedback. He is on leave from tomorrow until Monday, so I will follow up again with him
on Tuesday morning, but I am optimistic about supply. The sample purchase agreement for
the Passion Fruit would be based on the Kumquat agreement (airfreight etc.) Suggested
payment terms 4 weeks after sound arrival – let me know what you normally do here.

7. BIRDS EYE CHILLIES

a. I spoke to Lorenza and she will be giving me some info on the growers that will be coming in over the
weekend. I’ve spoken to 3 growers today. Of the 3, 1 grower isn’t in production just yet, but also
doesn’t have any accreditation, the 2nd grower has sold his farm and the 3rd still needs to get back
to me. Suggested payment terms 4 weeks after sound arrival – let me know what you normally do
here.

b. In the meantime, Lorenza will send me box-end photos of growers delivering into Roveg, which I will
contact directly.

c. Please can you let me have your supply months from South Africa. I have a grower that is willing to
plant for us, but he needs to know which months we need product and what the average prices are
during these months. This will help him establish profitability and help us have our own supply. Let
me have your thoughts on this.

8. LOGISTICS
a. Above & Beyond Logistics
i. Their quotes are more expensive than Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

b. Hellmann Worldwide Logistics

i. I’ve compared Hellmann to Above & Beyond and their pricing is lower. I’ve spoken to Jan
Crafford and he has advised that we need to give our volume expectations through asap as
there is a severe shortage of containers in Cape Town. Therefore, Port Elizabeth and Coega
ports should be considered as alternatives. Jan is in the process of finding us cold storage
facilities, should the need arise.

c. Lonrho Logistics
i. I’ve done comparisons on airfreight between Hellmann, Above & Beyond and Lonrho and
Lonrho’s pricing is the lowest.
ii. The price per kg is $2.05 for 3000kg and more pmc. I will try and combine the Passion fruit,
Kumquats and Pineapples on a shipment to ensure we make up the mass required for the
reduced price. This will take some serious coordination, but I’m sure I’ll get it right.
