General information. ‘The present documentation describes the operating rules’ of transformers and autotransformers. These transformers and autotransformers are designed for operation in interior sub-stations. The rules of proceeding ad indications included in the present documentation must be strietly observed by the users of transformers and autotransformers. The lack of observing these rules can be the cause of equipment defects, potentially endanger the personnel safety and make the warranty invalid. 2. Consistency with standards and regulations. Transformers and autotransformers comply with the IEC requirements, published in the. IEC-726 - "Dry transformers", and with the German ones - VDF-0532. On the request of the Ordering Unit the autotransformers can be constructed according to other standards or different requirements 3.D i - Assembly, erection and operation of transformers and autotransformers should be executed according to the regulations of construction and operation of electric power equipment valid in the country of assembly. ‘The receiver gets the following documents: autotransformer test sheet and the warranty certificate, the present technical documentation, dimensions and assembly drawing technical documentation of accompanying equipment belonging to the delivery, if the Producer of these equipment delivers such a documentation. ‘+ other documents agreed by the Producer and the Buyer. 4. Operating conditions, ‘Transformers and autotransformers are designed to operate in well ventilated closed rooms, free from the substances destroying isolation and from excessive dust sedimentation. Such rooms should have the following characteristics ‘+ maximum environment temperature 445°C ‘+ yearly average environment temperature 420°, © relative air humidity up to 90% (at +20°C) ‘+ minimum environment temperature = 20°C altitude of assembly ‘upto 1000 m above sea level ‘Transformer or autotransformer may work: © with up to 15° long-lasting ship inclin: the vertical axis. ‘© with vibrations of frequency from 5 Hz up to 8 Hz and amplitude up to 1 mm and with vibrations at frequency above 8 Hz up to 30 Hz with acceleration of 0,5g, ‘© with shocks at acceleration up to 3g and frequency belonging to the range of 40 up to 80 shocks per minute, ‘Transformers and autotransformers cannot be operating on the open ship decks. , with up to 5® trim and with side-sway of up to 10° from ‘The installation conditions can be adjusted with the EVZT M94 Page 20f7 Technical and Operational Documentation of Resin Autotransformers 5. Construction and Equipment, The core of the transformer or autotransformer is made of the cold-rolled, isolsted transformer sheet. The core keepers are pressed with the use of bars contracted by the screws. Windings of the upper tension are made as layer ones with the use of the roving wet method. The windings are made of alternate layers of copper conductors in varnish isolation and layers of resin impregnated roving. Lower tension windings of 250 KVA and higher power transformers are made of copper tape isolated with the hot-setting material (prepreg). The DN windings of the lower power transformers are made of the conductors in NOMEX isolation, On each GN coil there are copper taps, the switching of them enables tension adjustments. The autotransformer should be equipped with: a) K2 and K3 vacuum contactors type HCAG4CF-4 connected to the autotransformer as per the attached connection diagram No. TTRC-33 8730403, sheets 1 and 2. Cables for connection of contactors should be in maritime version with GL approval (K2 and K3 contactors to be delivered by ABB Zamech Marine). b) Current transformer type IMZ12 in tropical version. Cables for connection of the current transformer should be in maritime version with GL approval (the current transformer to be delivered by ABB Zamech Marin ¢) Anti-condensation heater 220/230V, 60 Hz. d) An earthing device compliant. rad Page 3 of7 Technical and Operational Documentation of Resin Autotransformers e) Moto Safe 4600 6.1, Tension adjustment. Tension adjustment can be done solely without tension. Tension adjustment is based on changing the tums ratio of the transformer or autotransformer through connecting o disconnecting additional coils in the upper tension winding. Itis realised by changing the connection of the cords on the taps. The way of connecting is shown on the scheme plate. In case of transformers and autotransformers in casing the access to the taps is done after taking off the front covers of the casing of the upper tension side, 6.2. Outlets. Outlet rails are pulled out to the bracketing isolators. A part of the rail standing out above the isolator along with the hole (holes) consist a terminal. The drawing of the terminal can be found on the dimensions and assembly drawing. 6.3, Chassis. ‘Transformers and autotransformers are equipped with chassis of adjustable pins that enable transformer or autotransformer running in two perpendicular directions. The grounding terminals are placed on the chassis girder. In the implementation for the ships the girders have holes instead of wheels. The holes allow for placing the transformer on the founding. 6.4. Lifting equipment. Each transformer or autotransformer without casing is equipped with four lugs for lifting with crane. These lugs are placed on upper beams of these devices. In case of transformers or autotransformers with casings of 1P23 and 1P20 standard there are two lugs places on the roof. 6.5. Standard casing of IP-23 or IP-20 protection level. This casing has a standard construction strictly connected with transformer or autotransformer. The divided detachable side wails with ergonomic holders enable a quick and easy access to the interior. The ventilation is provided by the holes in the bottom part and the vents placed in the upper part of side walls. For the IP-20 casings there are the vents in the roof, either. Transporting and lifting is done only with the transformer or autotransformer. Before starting the transportation operation one should check whether there are placed pins between the loading lugs on the upper transformer or autotransformer beam and the carrying beam of the casing. In the sea implementation there are additional holders placed on the casing cover that enable transformer protection against the inclination A standard way of connecting transformer or autotransformer in casing to the supplying and recei system is connection with cables. These cables are run through the holes in the bottom part. In the casing there are special stands for fixing cables and the individual cable wires are delivered to the transformer terminals, ing 6.6. Protection against winding overheating ‘The operation of the transformer or autotransformer windings in temperature above 155° C leads to premature isolation overheating. The winding overheating may be a result of excessively high environment temperature, insufficient autotransformer cooling or unacceptable autotransformer overload. Its therefore necessary to apply the protection equipment, Presently thermal relays are applied. The relay sensors are placed in each winding phase by the core in the points mostly exposed to the temperature tise. The sensors of all the three phases are connected in series and the terminal parts of conductors are fed to the thermal relay. Activation of one of the sensors makes that the thermal relay sends the signal of the overload or switches off the autotransformer. aia Page 40f7 Technical and Operational Documentation of Resin Autotransformers 7. Transportation, ‘Transformers or autotransformers should be transported completely assembled. The transportation should be done in closed transportation means, protected against mechanical damage, fouling, flooding with water, covering with snow. During transportation these devices should be protected against moving using beams, keys and stays. During vertical transportation ~ by crane or overhead crane ~ one should make use of all the transformer ‘or autotransformer lugs. Ropes and hooks must be set up in such a way, that they not harm transformer or autotransformer. Lifting and descending should be done without shocks or jerks. One cannot endanger transformer with sudden tits, jerks, shocks, blows. Rolling the transformer on its own chassis should be applied only on place on short distances. In case of such a transportation one should put sheets or belts of thick plate. Autotransformer should be pulled with the help of ropes fixed to the chassis stays in which there are holes for setting relative hooks. 8. Delivery control. ‘After the delivery of transformers or autotransformers the consignee, in presence of the Forwarder, still before the unloading, should visually inspect the equipment in order to determine its state in the moment of the delivery. One should particularly pay attention whether: ‘+ there are no traces of displacement of the load, ‘© there are no external defects of coils, outlets, isolators, ete, ‘* the outfit of transformer or autotransformer is complete and without defects, ‘+ painted surfaces are without any damages. If during inspection damages will be ascertained or appear any doubts concerning the state of the delivery, the appropriate protocol should be drawn up. 8.1. Storage. ‘Transformers or autotransformers should be stored in completely assembled state in closed, dry rooms, that are protected against atmospheric phenomena, incidental mechanical impairments and against the access of outsiders. Temperature in the warehouse should not be lower than -10 °C. Transformers or autotransformers should be protected against dust and dirt by covering them with a tent cloth, for instance. Covering with a plastic foil is not advisable, because of formation of steam condensate and possibility of corrosion. One should check the regularity of storing every 2- 4 months. 9. i ii f destination. 9.1. General recommendations. Transformer or autotransformer should be installed in specially destined and prepared rooms, corresponding to actually valid regulations concerning construction and operation of electric power devices. Transformer or autotransformer should be placed in a way protecting the personnel against electric shock, but in such a way that all controlling indicators be well seen by the personnel. ‘When placing transformers or autotransformers one should provide appropriate isolating and ventitating distances, as well as ways of access and a space for the personnel. One should however remember about providing enough space for the operating personnel. Resin coils, despite their thickness and hermetic isolation must_not_be touched under any circumstances when tran: oF autotransformer is live, since it threatens mortal electric shock. ‘Transformers or autotransformers in casings must be placed in appropriate distances from walls and provide sufficient space for the operational personnel. For the reasons of good ventilation the walls of the casing having vent must be placed in 2 minimum distance of 200 mm from the room walls. 10. Assembly and erection, ‘Tests before erection In order to check whether the transformer or autotransformer was not damaged or did not get wet during transportation or storage, one should make the following controlling measurements before connecting to the supply: ‘* measurements of the isolation resistance, +. measurements of the winding isolation ‘The measurements of the isolation resistance should be done applying 2 magneto of up to 2500V tension. ‘The isolation resistance measured in temperature of 20 + 5? C should not be lower than 5 MQ. In case of non-fulfiiment of the above requirements, one should contact the Producer for further actions. The measurement of the coil resistance is done in order to ascertain the continuity of transformer or autotransformer circuits, particularly the contacts of the tap connections. Measurements should be performed with the use of measurement device for small resistances, on all transformer taps. The measured values of winding resistances for individual phases of the transformer or autotransformer should not differ among themselves and from the factory tests by more than 5% 10.1. Transformer and autotransformer assembly. ‘After having placed the transformer or autotransformer on its installation place, the device should be ‘grounded, utilising the grounding terminal placed on the transformer chassis (transformer in casing has the grounding terminal situated on the side wall of the casing). The grounding connection should be secure and protected against corrosion and self-undoing during operation. One should then make the DN and GN connections. These connections should be possibly the shortest and fit in such a way, that they not exert breaking forces on supporting isolators. Before performing connections all co-operating contact, surfaces should be polished and cleaned. The connections should be then strongly fixed and protected against undoing, In case of autotransformers put in casing the supplying cables should be fixed to cable posts located inside the casing. An access to the terminals and to the cable posts are obtained after taking. away the front covers of the casing. 10.2. Connecting transformer or autotransformer to supply. Before connecting transformer or autotransformer one should perform the following actions: check, whether the transformer assembly was properly executed, according to the confirmed documentation of installation and to the requirements of regulations and dispositions specified in the present documentation; check whether the equipment in GN and DN circuits has been properly assembled and its partial start-up performed, the protection settings are proper and are correctly working, ‘+ perform the after-assembly meastirements, aay Page 6 of7 Technical and Operational Documentation of Resin Autotransformers ‘+ in case of several autotransformers designed for paratlel operation, check whether they fulfil the conditions of such an operation, * check, whether the autotransformer taps are correctly set — uniformly on each phase, ‘© check, whether the autotransformer and winding surfaces are clean and undamaged, and the screws properly tightened, ‘after the assembly check whether the tools, rests of cables, isolations etc, have been removed, * connect the circuits of thermal protections, having checked that the above conditions have been fulfilled one can connect the autotransformer to the supply, according to the confirmed connection procedure, 11. Operating the autotransformer, ‘Transformers or autotransformers may operate in stations without personnel. ‘Autotransformers need periodic inspections, reviews and tests during the operation, their results should be registered in a way defined by the Direction of the company operating the autotransformer. Twice a year at least the autotransformer inspection and once a year - the periodic review, must be done. Performing, the inspection does not require switching-off the supply. During inspection one should check: ‘© indications of measuring instruments, # state of auxiliary devices * operation loudness # state of isolators and rail connections Periodic review must be done with the supply switched off. During review one should perform the following checks: perform detailed inspection of windings, electric installations and auxiliary devices, remove dust - the windings can be cleaned using vacuum-cleaner or compressed air, taps, terminals, isolators should be cleaned with a brush ot wiped out with a dry rag, perform measurements of the winding isolation resistance, check whether the protections are properly working, check the operation of auxiliary equipment, check whether all the terminals and connections are well tightened. 12. Claims, In case of autotransformer damage during the warranty period one should Producer and present the following documents: ‘+ protocol of tests and measurements performed before connecting the autotransformer to the supply, ‘© warranty certificate of autotransformer, ‘+ description of the course of a break-down.
