IV. Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Learners’ Activity

A. Pre-Activities
1. Drill
Good morning, Class. Today we will Good morning sir!
have an activity. I have here some Good morning classmates!
pictures about the unit fractions (1/2, ¼,
1/6) after you’ve seen the picture you The children watch the
will if what are these pictures after they watch it
unit fractions you will write these in a ¼ the
sheet of paper. children write their
answers
in a ¼ sheet of paper.

½ Sir
¼ Sir
1/6 Sir
Sir yes sir!
2. Review
Ok class can you still remember what
was our last topic about? Yes Sir!
It’s about reads unit
What was all about? Fractions sir!

To test if you can really remember Sir yes sir!

our last topic. Answer the following,
read this unit fractions.

½ One-half sir
Very good answer! How do we read this
again?

Excellent! We read it as one- half.

¼ One-fourth sir
1/6 One-sixth sir
1/8 One-eight sir

Very good children! How did you get the

fraction just by looking at the pictures?

3. Motivation
The students will watch a video about
unit fractions after they watch the video,
I will ask questions to them if what have
they observe in the video.

Nicole works at a pizza restaurant her job is to

take out pizza slices from the machine so the
waiter can take it to the customers the machine
looks like a circle and it is divided into eight
equal slots as shown so in each slot there is one
pizza slice ready let us look at this machine
closely initially we had eight pieces as you can
see one pizza slice is one part of a whole or one
slice out of eight in total so each slice can be
represented by the fraction one-eighths any
fraction that has a numerator of one and a
positive denominator is called a unit fraction in
our case a unit fraction is 1/8 to find out how
many unit fractions we have in the machine we
can count all the slices this is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and
8 slices we can write down the unit fractions as
we are counting we have eight one-eighths or
eight-eighths which is our whole all fractions
are made up of unit fractions we can break any
fraction to its unit fraction for example if
Nicole already took out four slices what is the
fraction that shows how much pizza we have
left it is 4/8 how many unit fractions are there
in four-eighths every pizza slice represents a
unit fraction 1/8 so how many unit fractions do
we need to get four-eighths let us count and
write them down we have 1,2,3,and 4 slices or
a total of four unit fractions and 1/8 plus 1/8
plus 1/8 plus 1/8 equals 4/8 in this lesson you
learned what a unit fraction is.

Ok class after you’ve watched the video about I have observed sir that there is a
the unit fractions what have you observed? pizza that are divided into equal size sir!

Ok very good what else?

I have also observed sir that a unit
Very good class fraction is the numerator is one!
C. Activity
Class, I have prepared different portions
of a circle and you will just write what Ok sir!
unit fraction is shown.

½ sir
1/3 sir
¼ sir
1/5 sir
1/6 sir
1/7 sir
1/8 sir
1/9 sir
1/10 sir
1/11 sir
1/12 sir

D. Analysis Circle sir!

What shape have you seen in our
activity?
Very Good!
About unit fractions, sir!
What is all about our lesson?
Ok very good!
½,1/4, and 1/6 sir!
Can you give an example of unit
fractions?
Very Good!
1 sir!
What is the numerator in a unit
fraction?
Very Good!
E. Abstraction
Good morning class, are you ready for
our new lesson today?

In this lesson we will learn to write unit

fractions.

A unit fraction is a positive fraction

with one as its numerator, 1/n. It is the
multiplicative inverse of the
denominator of the fraction, which must
be a positive natural number. Examples
are 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, etc. When an
object is divided into equal parts, each
part is a unit fraction of the whole

F. Application
Direction: Write the following unit
fractions represented by the following
illustration.

½ sir!
1/3 sir!
¼ sir!
1/5 sir!
1/6 sir!
1/7 sir!
1/8 sir!
1/9 sir!
1/10 sir!
G. Evaluating Learning
Direction: Write the following unit
fractions represented by the following.

½ SIR!
1/3 SIR!
¼ SIR!
1/5 SIR
1/6 SIR!
1/8 SIR!
1/10 SIR!
1/12 SIR!

H. Additional Activities for Application

or Remediation
