My life as an Atenean and as a firstborn son of the family makes this quote very
important to me; “One day or day one, you decide.” It touches deeply on Ateneo education
virtues that have been instilled in me and the role of being a first child in the family. I am
conscious of my stature within the family as the eldest son and I want to be a good example to
my siblings. This phrase boosts my confidence so much that it allows me to take charge over my
daily activities making each day count in line with my aspirations. Rather than perceiving future
far away, today is envisaged as that beginning point when I can achieve dreams and live up
duties.

The reason why I chose this quote is because it perfectly reflects my philosophy and
attitude in life. It is intended to remind me that every journey, goal and dream commences with
the commitment to move on. “Either I will float through my days saying, ‘Tomorrow, it will be
done,’ or instead, right now, this day, something will be achieved by me.”

It is a quote that let me fly and live my life. Afraid of not seizing opportunities. It said
that I have the power to take action and move into uncharted territories in pursuit of my dreams.
So it is a motivational saying which takes me out of the inertia, and urges me on to keep fighting
without wasting any time. In any case, it keeps sharing its hidden treasures with us as a reminder
that we are free to determine our own destiny.
