EXCLUSION OF TRANS WOMEN FROM PAGEANTS FOR CIS WOMEN

As time passed, gender identity continues to shift and is now engrossed in the
society. Individuals who were born men but identify themselves as women are
breaking barriers challenging the established beauty standards today. In accordance
to trans women, many have been interested in joining to compete in pageants for
women. A lot of people debate about the beliefs of including a different gender
individuals into a same-sex spaces. Should trans women be allowed to compete in
pageants for naturally born women? In my perspective, I do not agree that trans
women should partake in this type of event, and my judgement is based on the
following logical and factual reasons.

Firstly, it interfere with the ideal vision of womanhood. People had forgotten
the true meaning of womanhood. They involve it with the feeling and expression of
one person. You cannot redefine woman based on someone’s feelings. According
to the word of God, God created humanity male and female creational, not
contractual. They are not social constructs. Rather, they are divinely created by
God. Transitioning gender today reflect the society’s rejection of God. He gave each
identity their own responsibilities accordingly. Changing our identity is not as simple
as changing our schedules. Womanhood is truly a marvelous, beautiful, and
uniquely particular thing. It is an objective thing that is ingrained in humanity’s being.
To say that anyone can be included in the means of being a woman is a troubling
redefinition of something deeply meaningful and valuable.

Secondly, it focuses too much in inclusivity disregarding and affecting the

established traditional standards of the competition. People’s desire for inclusion
greatly affects and made changes to beauty pageants’ rules and standards.
Nowadays, society has been stirring up this matter wherein they promote gender
equality or gender-inclusive especially in pageants. Not everyone needs to be
included in everything. How can you include a “Miss” in the name of a pageant if it
involves a contender with an unclassified gender? This idea of inclusion executes the
original ideals and standards of pageants for naturally-born women. These pageants
are a traditional beauty contests for heterosexual, so let the tradition live.

Thirdly, involving trans women in a pageant for naturally-born women seems

to be unfair to both women and trans women. Although many are acknowledging
trans women’s participation in pageants for born women, there are still some
individuals that disapprove affirming the unfairness of this act. These kind of
pageants were originally created for cisgender women; therefore, they have the right
to feel unfairness. Their confidence and pride as a woman can be affected while
competing with trans women. Not only this matter can be unfair to women, but also to
trans women. As to the traditional standard of the pageants, trans women’s decision
to join these kinds of pageants is a great risk for them, to their being as trans women.
There will be instances of rejection and discrimination from the society caused by
their gender entity.

Trans women’s participation in pageants for naturally-born women imposes

issues through many reasons. Excluding trans women to these pageants can give
them the feeling of discrimination and inequality, but these kinds of pageants should
only be exclusive to biologically-born women. Trans women must not be included to
pageants like these simply because they are not born as a woman. They should have
their own contest specifically for them to join.
