Stock Picks for June:
Buy MONDE and Jollibee

As I write this, our June recommendations slightly moved up and down. This month, we
recommended MONDE (Monde Nissin) and JFC (Jollibee). MONDE went slightly down and JFC went
slightly up. And yes, they are still great buys right now.

Both are great giants that have stood the test of time, growing bigger through the years. As usual,
we want to buy companies when they are cheap and during a time when very few are buying
them. Because of our elevated inflation, please buy slowly.

So here are our BOSS recommendations for June 2023:

• Buy MONDE anytime price is below P9.39

• Buy JFC anytime price is below P254.78

One of the two stocks recommended by the BOSS (Bo’s Strategic Stocks) for the month of June
2023 is MONDE (Monde Nissin Corporation). For this Stocks Update, I am featuring this company
and sharing with you its current
performance, as well as future prospects
for the business.

For the first quarter of 2023, MONDE’s

core earnings before interest, taxes,
depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA)
was P3.4 billion. This was a decline of 4.6
percent compared to the same period
in 2022, primarily due to the impact of
higher prices of ingredients. However,
this was in line with the forecasts of
research analysts. On the other hand,
revenues during the same quarter went
up to P20.1 billion. This is an increase of
9.6 percent compared to last year. This
was due to the higher sales of its Asia-Pacific Branded Food and Beverage (APAC BFB) business
that offset the weaker sales of Quorn (meat alternative) business.

Core EBTIDA of APAC BFB segment increased to P3.6 billion, which is five percent up compared to
the same period last year. This was caused by higher sales. Growth was good across its noodles,
biscuits, beverage, packaged cakes, culinary, and bread brands.

In its meat alternative business (MAB), core EBITDA encountered

a loss of P116 million because sales of Quorn went down by
4.3% percent compared to the first quarter of 2022. Analysts
are saying that the food inflation in the U.K. is to blame for this.
It continues to be stubbornly high. Thus, shoppers are led to
reduce purchases and switch to cheaper food products. In spite
of this, Quorn continues to be the overall leader in the U.K. meat
alternative market.

Analysts continue to recommend MONDE for its strong APAC

BFB business segment. Here, they continue to be market leaders
in several food categories like noodles, biscuits, oyster sauce,
and yogurt drinks. At P8.30, upside to our Target Price of P10.80
is 30 percent.
