OUTLINE

THE INFLUENCES OF EDUCATION ON MIGRATION

I. Introduction:
- Today, we're exploring the interesting topic of "The influences of education on migration.".
We'll look at how education and moving to different countries are connected.

- To begin, let's start with a surprising fact from Weekend Australian - a newspaper article. It
says that "Currently, more than 1.6 million temporary migrants with the right to work, including
temporary workers, international students, working holiday-makers, and various other small
groups, are currently living in our country. Interestingly, recently, the growth in this population
has mainly come from international students." (Sloan, J. (2018). Migration is desirable but only
where manageable. Weekend Australian)

- Now, let's dive deeper into how education impacts migration and shapes our society.

- We’ve divided our presentation into three parts. I’ll start with the differences and similarities
between education in Vietnam and the West. Then my friend, Khrystyna, will discuss how
education influences migration. Finally everyone, please pay attention, because we'll have some
interesting questions for you at the end of the presentation

II. Subtopic 1: “The Differences and Similarities Between Vietnam's Education and
Western’s Education”
1. Introduction
- As you can see, Education plays a significant role in our lives, and understanding how
different systems work can help us appreciate the world's diversity.

2. The differences and similarities between Vietnam's education and international

education.
- To begin, let's talk about the distinctions between education in Vietnam and the
Western world.

- First of all, in terms of education goals, Vietnam focuses on teaching the basics and theory to
create a strong knowledge base. In contrast, Western education encourages creative thinking,
problem-solving skills, and the ability to keep learning throughout life.
- Then, in terms of teaching approaches, Vietnam tends to emphasize memorization and tests
with strict teachers, while Western education encourages discussions, hands-on learning, and
active student participation.
- Furthermore, in terms of emphasis, in Vietnam, the focus is on specific subjects, following
rules, discipline, and respecting authority and family. In the West, it's about soft skills, critical
and creative thinking, diversity, independence, and self-management.

- Last but not least, in Vietnam, assessment values high grades and relies on high-stakes
standardized exams, often requiring short-term memorization. In the West, the focus is on skill
development, understanding, self-motivation, exploration, deep understanding, and practical
application.

- Now, let's look at the ways Vietnam's education and Western education are similar:

- Firstly, Both Vietnam and international education share the goal of preparing students
for the future. They both focus on building a strong foundation of knowledge and skills.

- Seconly, Education systems around the world face similar challenges. These include
ensuring quality, providing effective teacher training, and ensuring accessibility for all.
Another common challenge is finding the right balance between traditional and modern
teaching methods.

- Considering everything we've discussed, Vietnam's education system and

international education have both differences and common goals. The choice of the right
education path depends on individual needs and aspirations, whether it's about trying new
teaching methods, experiencing life in different countries, or building a brighter future.

3. Examine the impacts of Vietnam's education on migration.

- Next, please take a look at this. This graph shows you about The number of
Vietnamese students studying abroad in 2019-2020

- If Vietnamese students are considering studying abroad, they often prefer English-speaking
countries due to their education quality and supportive policies. Students and their families focus
on factors like the school's reputation, the quality of education, job opportunities, and the
possibility of immigration. The United States and the United Kingdom are known for their
excellent education, while countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Canada with favorable
immigration policies are always of great interest.
.
4. Conclusion
- The above mention has concluded our exploration of the differences and similarities
between Vietnam's education and Western education, which is essential for a global perspective
on learning. Despite varying approaches, the shared goal is to prepare individuals for success.
The impact of Vietnam's education on migration underscores the significant role of education in
shaping life choices.
5. Introduce partner
- Now, let's have my friend Khrystyna analyze how education influences migration to provide
you with more information about our topic.
