More and more people today are spending large amounts of money on

their complexions in order to look younger. Why do people want to look

younger? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

An increasing number of people these days devote most of their budgets to their
appearance in order to have a youthful outlook. This can be attributed to a host of reasons
in terms of personal satisfaction and societal pressure and I strongly believe this
development is beneficial with respect to health aspect.

Firstly, it is undeniable that an array of people spends much on their complexions to

combat the aging process. This can be explained by the fact that people have the feeling of
satisfaction when taking care of their appearance. To put it simply, a youthful outlook and
energy may allegedly boost their confidence and self-esteem, therefore, leading to a greater
sense of overall well-being. To illustrate, many Korean idols have a tendency to get
involved in cosmetic surgery so that they can stay young and draw the public’s attention.
Moreover, it is societal pressure that encourages more and more inhabitants to maintain
young-looking presence. In other words, youth is perceived as a symbol of attractiveness
and freshness in this beauty bias society, which means that as long as this attitude exists,
people will definitely make an effort to remain a youthful appearance in order to fit in and
meet societal standards.

From my perspectives, the obsession with looking younger has a positive impact on
people’s health. The main justification behind my point of view is that this trend may play
a big role in forcing people to pay attention to their diet and daily routine on the grounds
that in order to obtain young-looking appearance, people also have to maintain a balanced
diet and active lifestyle besides taking advantage of functional medicine or cosmetic
involvement. This development may undoubtedly help reduce the risk of chronic diseases
for the elderly.
Take for example, Japanese old people prefer to eat healthy dishes like fish or veggies
rather than meat-based meals, hence, they tend to have energetic looking even at the very
old age.

To conclude, the increasing expenditure on complexions to achieve a younger look can be

accounted for individual pleasure and society expectations, which I believe to bear several
health benefits to people
