festival. Can your guys tell me a little bit about the Hung Temple

important cultural events of the Vietnamese people. On the day of the
festival, thousands of people from all regions of the country flock to
Hung Temple to participate in activities to remember and honor the
Hung Kings. It's occasion for every Vietnamese to remember their origin
and express their respect as well as gratitude to ancestor of Vietnamese
people. Therefore, it's considered as national festival of Vietnam. On
December 6, 2012, the Hung Temple Festival was recognized by
UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Khang: When and where is this festival held every year?
Hiếu: King Hung Temple Festival takes place yearly at King Hung
Temple from the 8th to 11th day of the third lunar month in the year.
According to the legend, the 10th day of that month is the death
anniversary of King Hung. During the festival, Vietnamese people from
all over the country as well as Vietnamese people living abroad head for
King Hung Temple on Nghia Linh Mountain, Phu Tho Province to take
part in this festival.
Khang: Would you mind telling me more please?

later succeeded his father and was named Lac Long Quan. Lac Long
Quan married Au Co and gave birth to a royal cell that gave birth to a
hundred people who were the ancestors of the Bach Viet people. Lac
Long Quan appointed his eldest son Hung Vuong to succeed him as
king. After 18 generations, the 18th Hung King gave peace to Thuc Phan
- An Duong Vuong.
To express gratitude to the Hung Kings for publicizing the heaven and
earth, King Le Thanh Tong and King Le Kinh Tong copied the seal to
leave it at Hung Temple, to commemorate King Hung and remind all
Vietnamese people to remember and worship their ancestors.
