II. Guide questions:

1. What are the functions of the Epithelium?

- The Epithelium or the epithelial tissue is the type of tissue that provides a cover to our
external and internal surfaces that has a lot of functions. The functions of the Epithelium
are to provide the inner parts like the tissues, muscles, etc a cover from bacteria that can
cause harm to our body. Moreover, it also absorbs and secretes, it absorbs the nutrients
that we eat and it secretes enzymes, fluids, and hormones. The Epithelium also excretes
sweat and the waste that is in the kidney. It also filters like it filters our respiratory system
because we may tend to breathe in some particles that can cause some problems and it
filters it out. Diffusion and sensory reception are the last two functions of the Epithelium,
the diffusion that occurs in our body helps the particles to move from higher
concentration to lower concentration. Lastly, the sensory reception helps us to identify
the things around us like it helps our body to react. One of the examples for this is our
taste buds, it helps us to taste our food.

2. What are the different functions that connective tissue performs? Give examples.
- Connective tissue has a lot of functions as it helps our bones and tendons to connect to
each other and it supports us like when we carry something heavy, our bones usually
stiffens to stabilize our body. Another example would be when our tissues are damaged
when we sustain injuries from sports, accidents, and etc, the connective tissue would
repair our damaged tissue in order for us to fully recover from the injuries that we got.
