Film title: The Interview

Running time: 9 Minutes
Director: Barnaby Roper

(Then answer these questions, or just write your own critique – it’s up to you)

What was it about? The story revolves around an interview for a job but as the questions go
on things take a turn. The interviewer starts asking personal questions about his past that
become angrier and faster. The interviewee starts to feel uncomfortable and stressed as
they move onto a visual task but this also escalates until the screen cuts to black.
How was the story structured? Nice simple beginning but becomes more uneasy as the story
unfolds until a cliff hanger at the end.
Discuss the technical aspects (camera, lighting, sound etc.) The lighting in the room was
quite bright and the camera shots got closer to the characters as the interview got more
personal. The sound increased also as the tension built.
What did you like? I liked the mystery as to why he was asking personal questions and how
things slowly got worse.
What didn’t you like? I would’ve liked to have seen what the job was to give me a better
understanding as to why he was asking those questions.
Is there anything that has inspired an idea of your own? The build up of tension was an
aspect that I would like to explore.
