INTRODUCTION
1.1. PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE MANUAL

This manual includes servicing and maintenance information for NB5, NB9 and NB20
water baths. It is only to be used by technicians who were formerly trained by Nuve.
This manual informs the technicians about the operating principles, diagnosing and
repairing methods and spare part replacing.

In any problem which is not identified in this manual is determined, please contact to

1.2. GENERAL PURPOSE

The heating function is obtained by of the sheet heaters placed onto the outer sides
and the outer bottom surface of the stainless steel tank. The microprocessor
controlled main PCB operates on “PID” controlling system. Triple insulation
consisting of glasswool, an aluminum layer and an air gap gives the temperature
uniformity and stability.

SECTION 2

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

2.1. GENERAL OVERVIEW

The water baths may be split into 3 main groups;

• Power supply values

• Control unit
• Heating unit

2.2. EXPLANATIONS FOR FUNCTIONS

2.2.1. Power Supply Values

The electrical specifications of the NB 5, NB 9 and NB 20 are as follows;

Glass Fuse Power Power Supply Heater Type

Consumption
NB 5 2 x 3,5 A 600 W 230V Sheet heaters 600 W

NB 9 2 x 4,5 A 800 W 230V Sheet heaters 800 W

NB 20 2 X 10 A 1600 W 230V Sheet heaters 1600 W

2.2.2. Main PCB

The microprocessor controlled PCB operates on “PID” controlling system. All control
elements are connected to main PCB. These are;

1. Thermocouple
2. Keyboard and Display PCB
3. Power supply terminals of heaters

3
2.2.3. Keyboard and Display PCB

The illustration below shows the keyboard and display PCB’s functions. For more

SERVICING
Caution: Before servicing the instrument, please take the necessary precautions for
your health. Please respect to the warnings on the unit!!

3.1. GENERAL OVERVIEW

Failures can be diagnosed according to the following tables.

Most of the arising problems can be determined by the help of a multimeter.

The elements on the PCB must not be replaced even the failure is found to be caused by the
main PCB . In this case, please send the failed PCB to factory servicing team along with a
note on which the failure explanations are written.

Before replacing the PCB or any other control element, please make sure that the failure is
not caused by weak wire and terminal connections.

SECTION 4
CALIBRATION
4.1 HOW TO MEASURE THE ACTUAL TEMPERATURE

• Fill the tank with distilled water/liquid until maximum level

• Make the program and press the start button
• Wait approximately an hour before measuring the actual temperature by a calibrated
external sensor
• Be sure that calibrated external sensor does not have any contact with the tank, because
it should measure only the liquid’s temperature.
• If there is temperature difference between the equipment’s display and the external
sensor please apply the calibration procedure as below.

4.2 CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

• Press temperature set button continuously until PAS appears on the temperature display.
• Press the time increasing button until 277 appears on the time display. (277 is the
password)
• Press the temperature set button once, 0 appears on the temperature display.
• Press temperature increasing button four times, 4 appears on the temperature display, 4th
parameter is the calibration parameter.
• Change the value on the time display according to difference between the equipment’s
display and the external sensor.

If the set temperature is 37.5°C and the external sensor measures 36.9°C, increase the
value, which appears on the time display, by adding 0.6.

• After applying the above calibration procedure please press temperature set button to
return to stand-by mode.

NOTE: DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER PARAMETERS!!!
