IDENTIFYING YOUR

These categories are not limited to the things mentioned above but
it should give you an idea which category you might fall in. I think
most people will fall in 1 of the categories but a few will fall into all 3
or 2.
Once you decide this, you’ll quickly realized that if you find a task
difficult, it doesn’t mean that your brand sucks or that you shouldn’t
start your business. Instead you’ll know that your not good at that
thing and you’ll need to learn the skill and get better at it or pay
someone to do it.

THREE QUESTIONS
TO ASK YOURSELF

02
Before starting your clothing brand, I HIGHLY suggest that you get
your finances straight first. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but at least
be able to pay your bills on time and learn how to manage your
money better.
For some reason, people ignore the money part of a clothing brand
and think that having “fire” pieces is the only thing that matters. The
last thing you want to do is take on a bunch of debt to fund a busi-
ness that has no proof that it will be successful.
Now, once you’ve accepted your financial situation, the next step is
how to improve it. This is where you’ll have to put your pride to the
side. Ask yourself, what can I do to make more money? Maybe drive
Uber or Doordash if you have a car. You can even take on another job
or a few extra shifts at your current job. Just figure something out
that’s legal. So what can you do?

The first “why” should be very personal to you. For example, “why do
I want to start a clothing brand?”: “Because I want to change my
family tree and impact the world.” That answer has some emotion to
it, and it’s not focused around money. We already know that we’ll
make money, it’s a business. So there’s no reason to focus on that
alone.
The next “why” is, “why does my brand exist?”: “My brand will en-
courage people to become the best version of themselves.” Just like
before, this answer has some emotion to it. You want to give people
an emotional attachment to your brand. That will separate you from
other brands and help build customer loyalty.
Take a look at some of the big brands. They all have “whys”, so why
shouldn’t you? Always THINK BIG. You’re creating the next global
brand.

There are many models you can use to start your clothing brand.
These are my top 5:
1. Print on Demand
2. Dropshipping
3. DIY
4. Screen Printing
5. Cut & Sew
Keep in mind, that for all the models you still have to do a degree of
work to make it sucessful, regardless of how easy they may seem.

Just like print on demand, you won’t have control over quality and
shipping time. However, you won’t have to worry about fulfilling
orders yourself. You can source dropshipping products from places
like Aliexpress and CJ Dropshipping. Don’t forget to do more re-
search.

The cool thing about this model is that you can buy blank t-shirts,
hoodies (or whatever you decide to sell), in bulk for cheap, and make
them as orders come in. You also get to control the quality and ship-
ping since you’ll be doing it yourself.

You can buy blank t-shirts, hoodies, etc., from websites like
jiffyshirts.com, clothingshoponline.com, superlinewholesale.com.
Your screen printer can also source blanks for you, but they will up-
charge you. You’re better off doing it yourself. Time to get your
blanks printed.
Once they’re done, you pick them up, package them, list them on
your website, and market them. You will also be responsible to pack-
age and send orders out to your customers.
