The document provides instructions for measuring the flow rate and pressure of a liquid moving through pipes. It describes connecting measuring pipes to valves, checking for leaks, opening and closing valves simultaneously to take readings, using a beaker and timer to measure flow rate, and performing calculations to determine velocity and flow rate based on area and pressure differences. It also lists measured pressure drops for different pipe components like 180-degree and 90-degree bends.

-Check the emergency button before opening the main switch. -Open the switch. -Connect the measuring pipes to the valves of the pipe. -Check the connecting point not to leak before measuring -Open the flush button valve of the pressure meter before operating. -Open the gate valves according to your measuring pipes simultaneously. -Shake the measuring pipes to make sure that there is no bubble in the pipes. -Close the gate valves also at the same time. -Adjust the liquid pressures to be the same level in the pressure meter. -Close the flush button valve. -Open the gate valves at the same time. -And you will see changes in the pressure meter. That is the pressure difference. -Read the pressure difference and note it. You can find pressure drop by using it. -Need to measure the flow rate of liquid by using a beaker cup(1000L) and timer.
-Close the gate valves again at the same time.
-Open the flush button valve. -Close the main switch. -Turn on the emergency button for safety. -Plug out the cable from the socket. -You can read the diameter and length on the board. -And you can find velocity. By formula, Q (Flow rate) = A (Area) * v (Velocity) Q = 0.5 L/s (liter/second)=0.5L/s * 10-3 m3/L (cubic meter / liter) = 0.5*10-3 m3/s (cubic meter /second) A = π*D2/4 = 3.14*(20*10-2)2/4 = 3.1420*10-4 m2 (squared meter) V = Q/A = 0.5*10-3/3.1420*10-4 = 1.6 m/s (meter/second) -In practical measuring, we found the pressure drops of pipes as follows.
For major loss(180 Degree)
Pressure in = 50cmH2O Pressure out = 74cmH2O Pressure drop = 74-50 = 24cmH20 = 24*98.066 = 2353.584 Pa (Pascal) (1 cmH2O = 98.066Pa) For minor loss (90 Degree bend) Pressure in = 31cmH2O Pressure out = 63cmH2O Pressure drop = 63-31 = 32cmH2O = 32*98.066 = 3138.112 Pa (1 cmH2O = 98.066Pa) For minor loss (45 Degree bend) Pressure in = 31.5cmH2O Pressure out = 71.5cmH2O Pressure drop = 741.5-31.5 = 40cmH2O = 40*98.066 3922.64Pa (1 cmH2O = 98.066Pa)
