1. Why karate is important?

Answer:
In my understanding, karate is fitness when it comes to us students, who studied criminology.
Fitness is the second most frequent reason for practicing karate. Karate training can be intense
however the beauty is that each student can advance at their own pace. While karate is not considered
an aerobic exercise since by definition this means raising your heart rate to 70-80% capacity for 20
minutes or more, it is intense. Karate training will improve your stamina, strength, speed and
flexibility. Because of the intensity of the training karate will improve your overall fitness and body
awareness
2. What is the true essence of karate?
Answer:
One of the essence in learning martial arts like karate will make you mentally strong. There is no
doubt about the physical abilities of martial arts and its effectiveness in real-life situations. However,
martial arts are much more than just making you strong physically. Martial arts training will make your
body and mind work in harmony together which increases the performance. Clearing the mind of
things, helping focus, meditation and inner peace are few of the added benefits you will get. They are
very helpful especially for officers who see violence and chaos daily. Anxiety, stress, and dealing with
problems becomes easier and you will not be taking it out on the public. Not, to be rude or anything.

3. What is the importance of karate stances?

Answer:
The answer is simple, for a student to progress at a reasonable acceptable rate and be in a good
position to execute very strong and powerful techniques with dynamic movement, one needs a good
base to work from.
So being able to stand strong and equally move well in each stance with balance and a sense of
no effort is the first building block to progress. Power in a punch or a kick ultimately comes from the
ground and is torqued through the legs, hips, body to be released into your opponent. The same goes
with receiving a punch. If your stances are not good and connected to the ground, a punch will be
absorbed by the body rather than giving the feeling from the attacker that his punch lands on a very
solid and connected body. When an attacker hits you and he feels its like landing punches on a firm
cement bag then the effect and power of his punch will be of no consequence to you. His confidence
is immediately depleted and you have a mental and physical advantage in the fight.

4. What is the importance of karate blockings?

Answer:
From a self-defense perspective, the importance these karate blocks serve to protect your head,
torso and groin area. The blockings deflect incoming strikes rather than absorb them like with an
essential quality considering a potential attacker will likely be larger in size and weight. Blockings are
useful to turn a disadvantaged position into an advantageous one as the blocks focus on deflecting a
strike in a way that it also exposes a vulnerable area of an opponent and to break free of a potential
attacker's grip.
For the advanced student, they also serve as strikes, to destabilize the balance or center of gravity
of an attacker, and as joint locks or arresting techniques. As with all aspects of karate, the practice of
these blocks is to develop appropriate instinctive behavior so that you can feel secure knowing your
'Primal Brain' will respond effectively should you ever find yourself under the stressful and fearful
environment of real-life confrontation.

5. What is the importance of karate punches/strikes?

Answer:
From a fitness perspective, the variety of strikes provide an excellent workout for your core
muscles, chest muscles, back muscles and all the muscles in the arms. Once a student integrates their
strikes with moving in stances, they then incorporate every power of muscle in the body. In other
words, power, in our case punching power, is the ability to deliver enough force to render an opponent
unconscious, to knock him out or to temporarily disable him by knocking the wind out of him or
breaking its bones.
Knockout power is related to timing, speed, technique, precision among other factors. What does
that mean? Well, basically it means that the heavier and the faster you are, the harder you'll hit. Pretty
simple right? Simple to understand, but difficult to master.
