MATRIAL ARTS IN CRIMINOLOGY! (EXPLAIN IN 300 WORDS)

For me Discipline is one of the most important character for a criminology student to have.
The Martial Art Taekwondo teaches great discipline, having the students undergo through
this training helps them to be self aware to their surroundings. When one goes into law
enforcement service martial arts training is definitely needed. Self defense is part of their
training but only to a limited degree. Hence, later they, at their own expense, seek training.

The martial arts develops self confidence and a sharper sense of awareness of potential
danger. The martial arts develops an “early warning awareness” which is critical to a law
enforcement officer. If your plan is to work in the field as an officer or as a corrections officer,
the benefits of martial arts is fairly obvious. If your question pertains only to the academic
criminology, benefits exist but may be somewhat less obvious. Martial arts experience is
particularly beneficial in discussions and analysis of use of force. there are many academics
within the field with zero field experience or martial arts experience who are grossly
misinformed in regards to the safety, danger, and effectiveness of many techniques including
choke restraints. Self-Defense Majority of those signing up for martial arts have personal
safety as their main reason for training. Violence is a reality that is faced by everyone and
martial arts training provides necessary skills to increase chances of survival. Self-confidence
Fear and lack of knowledge and skill contribute largely to poor self confidence. Martial arts
training provides tools that enable people to learn and apply skills that help them realize not
only what they are capable of but also gives them a sense of pride from knowing what they
have accomplished. Overall Health Physical, mental and emotional well-being are the other
major reasons why people sign up for martial arts training. Consistent training not only
conditions the mind and body to have strength and stamina to fight back in a violent situation
but also helps the body fight disease, stay flexible, strong and active as people age. Martial
arts provides stress relief and ways to release pent up energy.
