By: Eugene Y. Pader II

The Odyssey is one of the famous epic that was written by Homer. Homer
was a Greek poet who created the two famous epic poem at the Ancient Greek
time, The Iliad, and Odyssey. The Odyssey starts after the end of the ten-year
Trojan war, their journey to home took ten years because of the storm causing to
turn their boats to the other way and encounter many dangerous monsters and
gods along the way but the Odysseus was brave enough to fight them. As the
time goes by, the epic poem Odyssey became old and many people decided to
shred it because it is too old and it does not fit this generation.

The Odyssey is still important today because they are believed to be the
first epics and because they tell us about life and culture in Ancient Greece
during the time of Trojan War, which was a major event in ancient Greek history.

This infamous epics written by Homer conveys certain values through the
character Odysseus that are still relevant today, such as hospitality, loyalty, and
vengeance. Each of these were important cultural standards held by Ancient
Greeks, oftentimes backed by divine law. The Odyssey influence the world
through their formative influence on ancient Greek culture, literature, and religion,
portraying Greek gods as powerful yet chaotic, and the human world as one in
which valiant behavior and respect for the divine grant individuals lasting glory.

The Odyssey can be one of those life changing books as it teaches us a

lot about what it means to be a human being and to face and embrace adversity
and overcome it.
Reading old books can offer a valuable perspective of the past, as well as
insights into human nature, society, and culture. Old books often contain timeless
themes and ideas that are still relevant today, providing a deeper understanding
of the world and the human experience.

Therefore, the destruction of Odyssey would be a tragedy not only for it

cultural and historical value but also for the loss of a timeless classic that has
enriched and inspired countless people.
