If I were to choose on two of the factors affecting group performance to ensure excellence, I
would prioritize cohesiveness and isolation with the group. Sticking and working as a team
makes us feel connected, helps us collaborate better, and gives us a common goal. On the
other hand, taking some time alone lets us concentrate on our own tasks, grow personally, and
come up with different ideas. When we balance these two things well, our group can do really
well and achieve great things.

Cohesiveness is the special bond that holds a group together. It's like the friendly and
supportive connection that makes us feel like we belong to the same team. To make this bond
strong, it's important for us to get along, communicate well, and create a positive team. Being
close and working well together as a group is really important. But, taking some time alone is
also crucial because it helps each person in the group grow and come up with new ideas. In
today's world, where we are always connected and have a lot of information, having moments of
alone time lets the members focus on getting better at what they do, think about things, and see
things in new ways.

Moreover, If we're too stuck together all the time, we might end up thinking the same way and
not coming up with new and different ideas. But if we spend too much time on our own, we
might have trouble talking to each other and feeling like a team. Hence, the leaders or
managers have a big job in making sure we get this balance right. We need to create a culture
where we all work together well but also have chances to grow on our own. It's important that
we can talk openly with each other about our ideas and concerns. And sometimes, it's good for
us to have a bit of time on our own to think and be creative. It's like giving our brains a break to
come up with new ideas and fresh stuff.

For example, In the small community of Calape in Bohol, a group of young leaders called the
Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) realized the importance of working closely together while also
letting each member grow individually to make their community projects more effective. These
young leaders wanted to enhance the recreational facilities in their area and organize events
that would benefit the youth. So, twork together better, the SK members started having regular
meetings and brainstorming sessions. They made a welcoming environment where everyone
felt comfortable sharing their ideas. This teamwork allowed them to plan and carry out their
projects, making sure they considered the different skills and perspectives of each member.
While understanding the need for individual growth, the SK leaders came up with a plan for
members to work on specific parts of projects independently. For example, one member took
charge of reaching out to local businesses for support, while another focused on promoting their
projects on social media. Hence the sense of balance between cohesiveness and isolation.
They kept communication open so members could freely share their thoughts, and they also
understood the need for breaks and individual focus. This balance helped make their community
projects successful. As a result, the SK group in Calape, Bohol not only completed impactful
projects but also helped its members grow individually.
