Jesus Christ is the savior. And we are to come to him to be saved from our sins.

Unfortunately many
today are seeking Christ not to be saved but for food, position, and prosperity. (John 6:26-27; Romans
16:17 to 18). That is one reason there exist much confusion and conflicting answers to the question
"what must I do to be saved" this question is a Bible question and has bible answers but many are not
satisfied with the bible answers. They love to add the commandments of men (Matthew 15:9).

They go beyond what is written (1 Corinthians 4:6) and thus do not abide in the doctrine of Christ (2nd
John chapter 9). Today among religious people, this question does not have the same answer.

To some just be morally good is all they think they need to be saved. But we know that this is not the
case stop no one can be good enough to earn salvation. Calling yours was a good and devoted man yet
god revealed to him that there was something he must do to be saved. He had to hear the word of god
and obey the gospel (Acts 10:2,6, 47, 48; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2: 8-9).

To others simply giving your life to Christ by accepting him as lord and personal saviour is all they need
to do. Although this position is very popular today, yet it is not correct. No one in the Bible was ever
saved this way. We must look in the Bible for the answer to this question. The book of Acts is the history
of the church. It tells of how people were converted to Christ for salvation. If we study carefully, we will
learn what the people did to be saved. If we follow their example then we can be sure of what we are
doing also. (Acts 2:38; 8:35-37; 16:29-33; 22:16).

Gesso in the light of the fact that all have sinned Romans 6:10 and 23 and the wages of sin is death
Romans 6:23; 5:12 and that judgement is imminent Hebrew 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 25:41-46;
Revelation 20:11-15. Then let's look in scriptures to find God's answer to the question what must I do to
be saved?

Note: that emphasis is on what must I do.God has done is parked beside Jesus John 3:16 he provided
Grace Ephesians 2:8 and gave the inspired word 2nd Timothy 2:15 217 2nd Peter 3:9 now you are an
individual must do your part. You have a responsibility ro save yourself (Matthew 7:21; Acts 2:40,41;
Romans 14:12; Revelation 22:14) BY:

Hearing- The word

We must hear the gospel of Jesus. the Bible teaches that Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the
word of god Romans 10:17 Christianity is a religion of teaching Matthew 28:19 to 20 no one can become
a Christian without being taught. The Gospel must be preached (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

in Romans 10:14 Paul wrote: "how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how
shall they believed in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Thus one must first hear the gospel before he can believe and obey it 2nd thessalonians 1:6-9 Christ
does not save anyone today by any other means other than through gospel preaching.

Believeing - The word

The Bible shows clearly the place of faith in salvation. One must believe that Jesus is the Christ the son
of the living God (Matthew 16:16) Jesus said "if you do not believe that I am he, you qill die in your sins"
(John 8:24). In the great commission Jesus commanded "he who believes and is baptized will be saved
but he who does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16) the only way to get faith is by hearing the
word of God (Romans 10:17)

Repentance

John the Baptist preached repentance Matthew 3:2 Jesus preached repentance Luke 13:3 25 Jesus
commanded repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all Nations beginning
at Jerusalem Luke 24:47 one must repent of his sins in order to be saved (Acts17:30-31). Repentance can
be a very difficult command to obey because it requires acknowledging ones sin and turning away from
them 1st thessalonians 1:9 but Jesus insist - "except you repent, you shall all likewise perish Luke 13:3
Luke 15:7 2nd Peter 3:9

Confession

Jesus said that we must be willing to confess him before men if we want him to confess us before the
father (Matthew 10:33 - 34) one must be willing to confess that Jesus is the Christ the son of the living
God (Matthew 16:16) in Jesus days some among the chief rulers, also many believed on him but because
of the pharisees they did not confess him lest they should be put out of the synagogue. For they loved
the praise of men more than the praise of God (John 12: 42-43) anyone who wants to be saved must be
willing to confess with his mouth (Romans 10:9 -10) before men (Romans 10:32) for with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:10)

Baptism- into Christ for the remission of sins

Jesus Christ commanded baptism (Mark 16:15 to 16; Matthew 18: 18-20). And if we love him we will
keep his commandments (John 14:15 acts 2:41). The apostles preached it (acts 2:38, Romans 6: 1-5).
Baptism saves us (1st Peter 3:21) there is one baptism (Ephesians 4:5) this is the baptism of the great
commission (Matthew 28:18 to 20). The baptism is a burial in water (Romans 6:3-4 colossians 2:12) and
immersion which involves going down into the water and coming up out of the water (Matthew 3:16
Acts 8:38 - 39). Therefore sprinkling, pouring, waving a flag or any other form of baptism cannot assure
salvation.

The purpose of baptism in the New testament

1. We are baptized to be forgiven of our sins acts - 2:38 acts 22:16 colossians 2:11 to 12

2. We are baptised to receive the gift of the holy Spirit - acts 2:38 5:32

3. we are baptized to enter the kingdom of Christ - which is the Church of Christ- John 3:3 25 colossians
1:13 1st Corinthians 15:24
4. Baptism put us into Christ -Galatians 3:27. We become new creations - 2nd Corinthians 5:17

In baptism we obey the Gospel of Christ 1st Corinthians 15 :1-4 1st thessalonians 1:6 - 9 Romans 6:4, 17;
10:16 buy baptism we are saved Mark 16:16 1st Peter 3:21

Note1: Correct Bible baptism is for accountable individuals who have heard the Gospel, believed the
gospel, repented of sins and have faith in Christ. This is why babies and infants are not proper candidate
for baptism.

Note2: Too many today who claim to be Christians contradict the Bible teaching on baptism: some
people baptize babies and infants some by pouring, sprinkling, anointing with oil etc; others insist that
baptism is only an outward sign of an inward Grace and thus it is not necessary for salvation.

All these and more are doctrine of men they make worship vain Matthew 15:9

After baptism what then?

1. When one is correctly baptized the Lord adds that one to the church - his body the family of God -
Acts 2:41; 2nd Timothy 3:15. Therefore no one has right to join the church of his or her choice as it is
preached by some people. Thoes that were baptized in the book of Acts did not have any denomination
to choose from or join. They simply became a part of the one body of Christ - the Church of Christ. We
invite you to do the same today.

2. After baptism as a new Christian in the church God expects you to worship him in spirit and in truth -
John 4:23 to 24 1st Peter 2:2

3. As a Christian - a member of the church, God requires you to remain faithful till death - Revelation
2:10
