Dread Showdown

(Robo Sumo)

Objective
Dread showdown (Bot wrestling) is a competition of two wired or wirelessly operated robots
competing in an attempt to push the opponent out of the arena. The robots must be
manually operated.

Arena
• The diameter of the arena is 183cm.
• The main arena is divided into 2 zones RED and BLUE respectively surrounded by a
black ring.
• In the two zones there is a black square of 30 cm x 30 cm in which bots were placed
initially.
• The bot aims to push the opponent's bot out of the black ring.

Gameplay
Quali�ier Round
• The �irst round will be the quali�ier round.
• The duration of the quali�ier round will be 3 minutes.
• The bot has to push the opponent bot out of the black ring.
• In each match, two teams will compete against each other at a time to try to earn maximum
points.
• The team with the maximum points at the end of the match will qualify for the next round.
• Other than this, the performance in the quali�ier round is of no signi�icance to the contest.

Knockout Round
• Each game consists of three rounds.
• The duration of each round will be 3 minutes.
• Each round will be based on a points system and is similar to a quali�ier round.
• Initially both bots will be placed at their respective position on the two opposite sides.
• The bot has to push the opponent bot out of the black ring.
• However, if the bot while pushing the opponent bot goes completely out of the black ring, no
points will be given.
• The team with the maximum points at the end of the round will be the winner of that round.
• The team which will win two of the three matches (rounds) will be the winner of the game.

Tie Breaker Round


• In case of a tie, a tiebreaker round is there.
• In tie breaker round extra 2 minutes will be given.

• Two teams will compete against each other at a time to try to earn maximum points.
• The team with the maximum points at the end of the match will be the winner.

Rules
• Technical break can be used after a round by both teams which lasts for 30 seconds
and can be used only once per battle.
• Hand touching during the game to avoid the bot from falling outside the arena will
lead to the bot being considered as fallen and necessary points will be given to the
opposite team.
• If there is an entangling of wires then the game is paused and the game will start from
the same locations of the bots.
• If a restart is taken with consent of both the teams then both the robots will be placed
back in their respective starting zones.

Bot Specifications
• The machine should �it in a square of 300mm x 300mm x 200mm (lxbxh).
• The combined weight of the robot and the remote must not exceed 5 kg.
• The robot must be stable and must stand on its own at the beginning of the run
when put at the starting point.
• Robots not ful�illing this criterion will be disquali�ied.
• During the match, the robot can expand itself provided it does not damage the arena
in any way.
• However, the machine should not leave anything behind while competing.
• The machine should not scratch, damage, or destroy the arena or accompanying
parts of the arena.
• The machine should not shoot anything at the opponent’s robot.
• Any robot found damaging the arena will be immediately disquali�ied.
Team Speci�ications
• A team may consist of 2 to a maximum of 4 members.

General Rules
• The team that is not ready at the time speci�ied will be disquali�ied from the
competition automatically.
• The bots will be checked for safety before each match and will be discarded if found
unsafe for other participants and spectators.
• Team members will not be allowed to step into the arena.
• Only organizers are allowed in any situation.

• The team will be disquali�ied if any of the team members step into the arena without
the approval of the presiding organizer.
• Only two members of the team are allowed to handle and operate the robot.
• Participants cannot keep anything inside the arena other than their robot.
• Proper protection majors from short-circuiting batteries are required to be taken by
participants for the safety of everyone present at the arena.

Hand Touch
• No hand touches are allowed in between the matches unless both the operators of
the respective robots want a restart.
• If a restart is taken then both the robots will be placed back in their respective
starting zones.

Penalties
• Even if a participant takes a hand touch without permission, the clock will keep running
and will not be reset and the 10 points will be deducted.

Scoring System
• Each time team will be credited 20 points if the bot successfully pushes the opponent's
team bot out of the arena.
• Total Score = total points earned by team – penalties.

Note
• Ready-made (market-sold) robots with or without modi�ications will not be allowed in
the competition.
• The dimensions of the arena will be accurate to within 5% or 20 mm, whichever is less.
• In case of any disputes, the organizer's decision will be �inal and binding.
• The organizers reserve the right to change any of the above rules as they deem �it.
• Changes in rules, if any, will be highlighted on the website and noti�ied to the registered
teams.
• ± 5 % error in bot dimension is allowed.
