APPENDIX B INSTALLATION
B.1 INSTALLING THE FILTER ASSY NO.17 (C-2)

B.1.1. Pre-installation
Verity and record that there is no problem in the sheath pressure and UF-Check (Fscw) analyzed
data.
Fscw : Approx.80 ch
Sheath Pressure : Approx. 0.22 - 0.24 kg/cm2

B.1.2. Bubble Removal of the Filter (1)

1) Prepare approx. 20% solution of the ethanol (approx. 500mL). Use the distilled water for
solvent.
2) Dispense ethanol solution in clean container of steady shape like a beaker, etc.
3) Connect approx. 300 mm of Tube Polyurethane 3.4 mm x 1.8 mm with nipple positioned at
the lower part of the filter (IN).
4) Connect syringe (30 - 50 mL) to Tube Polyurethane connected to the upper part of the filter
(OUT) using Tube Silicone (5 mm x 2 mm).
5) Put the tube connected to the lower part of the filter (IN) in the ethanol solution in the
container.
6) Repeat aspiration and discharge using syringe to fill the ethanol solution in the filter.
7) Remove small bubbles existing inside the filter completely by pulling syringe strongly with the
edge of the tube inserted in solution. At this time, aim the syringe at under, and repeat
aspiration and discharge until small bubbles come off completely with the condition that
bubbles do not flow back into filter.
8) Make sure the bubble does not come in even if the ethanol solution is strongly aspirated by
syringe.
9) Discharge the ethanol solution in the filter.

B.1.3. Bubble Removal of the Filter (2)

1) Dispense 1L of CELLSHEATH to a clean container (beaker, etc.)

2) Put the tube connected to the lower part of the filter (IN) in the CELLSHEATH container of
step 1).
3) Repeat aspiration and discharge using syringe to fill the CELLSHEATH in the filter.
4) Remove small bubbles existing inside the filter completely by pulling syringe strongly with the
edge of the tube inserted in CELLSHEATH. At this time, aim the syringe at under, and repeat
aspiration and discharge until the small bubbles come off completely with the condition that
the bubbles do not flow back into the filter.
5) After the CELLSHEATH is filled in the filter and the bubbles were almost removed, block up
tube polyurethane (at A) to the upper part of the filter (OUT) by forceps.
6) Be sure tube polyurethane is block up at A.
7) Remove the syringe.
8) Remove tube polyurethane connected to the lower part of the filter (IN).

tubes A is blocked up by forceps.

1) Fix the filter on Rear Panel of UF-50 using screw binding M3x6.
2) Be sure the sheath line tubes (3.6 mm x 1.8 mm) stuck out of rear panel.
3) Block up tubes on both sides (B and C) by the forceps.
4) Remove the tube silicone connected these tubes.
5) Connect the end of tube polyurethane marked as “IN” to the nipple (IN) located at the lower
part of the filter. At this time, verify that the tube is not disconnected from the nipple even if
pulled strongly.
6) Disconnect tube polyurethane (3.6 mm x 1.8 mm) from the nipple “OUT” to the nipple (OUT)
located at the upper part of the filter.
7) Connect the end of the tube polyurethane marked as “OUT” to the nipple (OUT) located at

times or more, perform the bubble removal again according to Step: B.1.2. Bubble
Removal of the Filter (1). On the other hand, if total count decrease gradually, go on
“continuous operation” until the above condition is satisfied. (Normally approx. 150 - 200
times.)
7) Verify whether [Condition] described at step 5) above is satisfied regularly or not. Measure
UF-CHECK and make sure data is not changed between before and after the filter
installation. Especially, make sure Fscw data is not changed, and adjust if necessary.
