Function of the Sensors This section describes the location and the function of 7 sensors associated with the sampler unt. PCB No. 1188 (Sampler Control Board) This board is located in the sampler unit. One chip micro-processor (MB897 15A) Is provided on this board, and this processor controls rack operation of the sampler unit by the control command from PCB No, 6358. This board is connected with PCB No. 6358 through the serial interface. Sensor Input Circuit This circuit monitors the seven sensors and outputs to PCB No. 6358 on the Main Unit. Sensor 1: Rack Detection Sensor This sensor detects the existence ofthe racks in the right rack pool. The direct light detection method Is used for detection of the racks. ‘One photo transistor is used as the sensor, and one LED is located at the opposite side of right rack pool as the light source, The reflecting light photo sensor may be affected to its function by the scattered light around the ‘sensor and the photo transistor may have an error upon the objects. Accordingly, the light source LED should be it intermittently by employing the pulse diving circuit, which triggers the mono-stable rmult-vibrator combined into the photo detector circuit to stabilize the operation senscr. When AUTO analysis starts or immediately after the rack currently analyzed on the measurement ine being moved out from the right rack pool, the signal level at port P47 of M2 (MB89715A) is turned to “Hin order to turn on the light source LED. After 40 usec, the sensor status is monitored, and then, LED is turned off. The signal level of P62 will be "L” when the sensor detects rack, or “H" if there is no rack. UF-100 81M 72 Revised July 1998, by ECR 3970005, Sensor 2: Tube Position Sensor This sensor is used to monitor the rack shift operation on the Measurement Line, Two micro-switches are used in this sensor. ‘The port P40 of M2 (MB89715A) is used as an input port. In normal condition, these switches are ‘open, the signal level of P40 is “ When the rack on the Measurement Line is shifted, these switches are once turned on (P40 level is “H’, then immediately turned off) Sensor 3: Sample Volume Sensor ‘This sensor detects the sample volume. One photo transistor is used as the sensor, and one LED is Jocated at the opposite side of the Measurement Line as the light source. Since this cout has the data latch circuit, sensor input is monitored every 25 msec while sampler operation. When the rack on the Measurement Line Is shifted, the signal level at P70 of M2 (MB89715A) is tured to “Hi” so that the light source LED is tumed on for 40 useo. The state of sensor is kept at the latch circuit M11 (74HC123) and simultaneously, DS is It for 25 msec. Sensor 4: Flack Shift End Sensor ‘This sensor detects the rack reaching to the left end of the Measurement Line, One micro-switch is Used in this sensor. When the sensor (micro-switch) is turned on, the signal level of the port P73 of M2 (MB89715A) becomes “L”. ‘Sensor 5: Rack Full Sensor ‘This sensor detects the rack reaching to the end of the left rack pool. One micro-switch is used in this sensor. ‘The micro-switch is used in this sensor. When the sensor (micro-switch) is turned on, the signal level of the port P74 of M2 (MB89715A) becomes “L’, Sensor 6: Rack Shift End Sensor This sensor detects the existence of the rack in the Measurement Line of the right rack pool. However, when D8 is not lt by Watch Dog Circult, each motor does not operate. 1MB8713 is used as the Stepper Motor Control IC. FT6021 drives each motor. For the motor power ON/OFF, uPA1523H is used. Each motor is used in the 2-phase excitation mode. Also a limit switch is installed on each motor to detect the stop position. |) RACK FEED-IN MECHANISM CONTROL CIRCUIT Clock signal for the FEED-IN MECH. stepper motor is provided from the port P44 of M2 (MB89715A) to MS (MB8713). The direction of rotation is determined by signal level at port P33 of M2, and FEED-IN operation is performed while the level is °L”. ‘When the RACK FEED-IN sensor (micro-switch) is tured on, the signal level at the port P41 of M2 becomes “L", and motor operation will stop. The state of motor ON or OFF depends on the signal level at the port P34 of M2. |i) RACK SHIFT MECHANISM CONTROL CIRCUIT ‘Glock signal for the SHIFT MECH. stepper motor is provided from the port P4s of M2 (1B89715A) to Ma (MBB713).. When the RACK SHIFT sensor (micro-switch) is tumed on, the signal level at the port P42 of M2 becomes ‘L’, and motor operation will stop. The state of motor ON or OFF depends on the signal level atthe port P51 of M2 RACK FEED-OUT MECHANISM CONTROL CIRCUIT Clock signal for the RACK FEED-OUT MECH. stepper motor drive is provided from the port P4S of M2 (MB89715A) to M3 (MB8713). When the RACK FEED-OUT sensor (micro-switch) is turned on, the signal level at the port P43 of M2 becomes “L’, and motor operation will stop. The state of motor ON or OFF depends on the signal level at the port P53 of M2, 7.2.4. Serial Interface Circuit M2 (CPU/ MB89715A) has a builtin UART. It is used for communication with the PCB No. 6335 in Main Unit. Pin assignment of M2 for this citcuits as follows; P56: DTR P57: RTS P80: DSR. P61: CTS Ms (MC145407) is provided as a level converter (CMOS level RS-232C level) of this circuit. 7.2.5, Watch Dog Circuit “This board has the watch dog circuit for safety requirement of stepper motors’ operation, ‘This circuit monitors the state of CPU port P32, and will prohibit the stepper motor operations when, the signal level from CPU is not repeatedly switched "H” and “L” every 25 msec. Sensor input Circuit This circuit monitors the seven sensors and outputs to PCB No. 6358 on the Main Unit. Stepper Motor Control Circuit This circuit controls the three stepper motors, for RACK FEED-IN, RACK SHIFT and RACK FEED- ‘OUT operations. However, when D6 is not lt by Watch Dog Circuit, each motor does not operate. ‘SP0255 is used as the Stepper Motor Control IC. MP4402 and xPA1500 drive motors. For the motor power ON/OFF, uPA1523H is used. Each motor is used in the 2-phase excitation mode. Also a limit switch is installed on each motor to detect the stop position. i) RACK FEED-IN MECHANISM CONTROL CIRCUIT Clock signal for the FEED-IN MECH. stepper motor is provided from the clock generator (Me6240P to SPO255. The direction of rotation is determined by signal level at port P60 of M2, ‘and FEED-IN operation is performed while the level is “L”. When the RACK FEED-IN sensor (micro-switch) is tumed on, the signal level at the port P71 of M2 becomes “L”, and motor operation will stop. The state of motor ON or OFF depends on the signal level at the port P61 of M2. ) RACK SHIFT MECHANISM CONTROL CIRCUIT Clock signal for the SHIFT MECH. stepper motor is provided from the clack generator M66240P to SPO2S5. ‘When the RACK SHIFT sensor (mioro-switch) is tumed on, the signal level at the port P72 of M2 becomes *L", and motor operation will stop. The state of motor ON or OFF depends on the signal level at the port P63 of M2. fi) RACK FEED-OUT MECHANISM CONTROL CIRCUIT lock signal for the RACK FEED-OUT MECH. stepper motor drive is provided from the clock generator M66240P to SPO255. When the RACK FEED-OUT sensor (micro-switch) is turned on, the signal level at the port P73 ‘of M2 becomes ‘L", and motor operation will stop. The state of motor ON or OFF depends on the signal level at the port PES of M2. 7.34 Serial Interface Circuit M2 (CPU/ MBB9TE35) has a built-in UART. tis used for communication with the PCB No. 6335 in Main Unit. Pin assignment of M2 for this circuits as follows; P42: DTR P40: RTS P43: DSR Pat: CTS Ma (MC145407) is provided as a level converter (CMOS level RS-232C level) of this circuit. 7.3.5. Watch Dog Circuit This board has the watch dog circu for safety requirement of stepper motors’ operation. ‘This circuit monitors the state of CPU port P20, and wil prohibit the stepper motor operations when. the signal level from CPU is not repeatedly switched "H” and *L" every 25 msec.
