House of Delegates Meeting Recap October 20, 2011, 7 p.m.

Borden Student Association Room Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) potentially cut
o o SU is the 4th largest recipient of VTAG, more than 50% of SU undergraduate students benefit from this award. SGA is looking for students who want to help draft a resolution to the state government asking them to reconsider and potentially doing some lobbying at the Capitol.

Action Item: Extending Allen Dining Hall hours


o o Currently, the Caf is open Monday-Thursday until 7:15 p.m. and Friday-Sunday until 6:30 p.m. SGA is interested in what students think about potentially extending the hours to 8 p.m. to allow a bigger window of opportunity to grab a meal in the dining hall. Be on the lookout for more information.

o o Led by sophomore Ashley Cross Objective: plan activities on campus for Apple Blossom weekend that provide a safe but fun environment for all students

SUMTA-Halloween bake sale Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Ruebush Hall SAAC-collecting canned goods for Cans Across the Conference, all donations accepted in Aikens up until Nov. 19.

Catholic Campus Ministry-Nov. 3 between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in BSC, students can write notes to troops that will be included in knitted helmet liners Student Nurses Association-selling $25 tickets for Nov. 5 gala; all proceeds go toward Brazil mission trip

Huckle spoke to the Student Life & Enrollment Management Committee, chaired by C.J. Borden, about the SGA re-envisioning Office of Admission expressed new tactics o Being more personally engaging o Using SU alumni as student ambassadors o Targeting new populations including Northeast and Latino students Rick McClendon spoke about the shift from student activities to student engagement o Emphasized it is up to students to plan events they want on campus Senior Spanish major Kevin Schaeffers work with the Boys & Girls Club as community outreach required for living in Solenberger Hall was featured on TV3 Winchester
