General Instructions:
(1) There are 33 questions in all. All questions are compulsory.
(2) This question paper has five sections: Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and
Section E.
(3) All the sections are compulsory.
(4) Section A contains sixteen questions, twelve MCQ and four Assertion Reasoning based
of 1 mark each, Section B contains five questions of two marks each, Section C
contains seven questions of three marks each, Section D contains two case study
based questions of four marks each and Section E contains three long answer
questions of five marks each.
(5) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one
question in Section B, one question in Section C, one question in each CBQ in Section
D and all three questions in Section E. You have to attempt only one of the choices in
such questions.

19 What is isothermal process ? Find the expression for the amount of work done during 2
isothermal expansion from volume V1 to V2 .

20 If 20g of ice at 00C is converted in to steam at 1000 temperature. Find the amount of 2
heat required . Latent heat of ice is 334 J/g and steam is 2265J/g. Given the specific
heat of water is 4.2J/g.
21 How is the speed of sound waves in atmosphere affected by the humidity and 2
temperature.

22 A body cover 32 m in 3rdsecond & 20 m in 5thsecond along a straight line. 3
Find the displacement covered by the particle at 10th second and in 10
seconds.
23 Derive the equation for rise of liquid in capillary tube. Hence show that the height of 3
liquid column supported is inversely proportion to the radius of capillary tube.
24 A boy stands at 39.2m from a building and throws a ball which just passes 3
through a window 19.6m above the ground. Calculate the velocity of
projection of the ball.
25 What is meant by potential energy of a spring? Obtain an expression for potential energy 3
of a spring and plot a graph of potential and kinetic energy versus distance for a spring.
26 State the law of equipartition of energy. Use it to obtain the value of γ 3

Show that the average KE of gas molecule is directly proportional to the temperature of
gas. Hence give the kinetic interpretation of temperature
27 A transverse harmonic wave on a string is described by 3

29 Read the following paragraph and answer the questions that follow. 4
The time rate of the total angular momentum of a system of particles about a point (taken
as the origin of our frame of reference) is equal to the sum of the external torques (i.e. the
torques due to external forces) acting on the system taken about the same point.

In our daily life, we come across various types of motions: such as periodic, non-periodic,
