General Instructions :

 All questions are compulsory.


 The question paper has four sections Section A, Section B, Section C and Section D
 There are 37 questions in the question paper.
 Section A has 20 questions of 1 mark each.
 Section B has 7 questions of 2 marks each.
 Section C has 7 questions of 3 marks each.
 Section D has 3 questions of 5 marks each.
 There is no overall choice. However internal choice is provided. You have to attempt
only one of the choices in such questions.

22. Derive a formula for the acceleration of a body moving down on a rough 2
inclined plane.

Two bodies of masses 100 kg and 10,000 kg are at a distance 1 m apart.
At which point on the line joining them will the resultant gravitational
field intensity be zero ?

23. Calculate the work done to stretch a spring from 𝑥 to 2𝑥 . Given the 2
spring constant is k.

The length of a seconds pendulum on the surface of earth is 100 cm.
What will be the length of a seconds pendulum on the surface of moon?

26. The temperature of a body is increased from 27⁰C to 127⁰C. By what 2


factor would the radiation emitted by it increase ?

27. Derive a relation between speed of sound in a gas and root mean square 2
velocity of the molecules of that gas.

Water rises in a capillary tube to a height 2.0 cm. In another capillary
whose radius is two-thirds of it, how much water will rise ?

30. A body of mass 2 kg makes an elastic collision with another body at rest 3
and continues to move in the original direction with a speed equal to half
its original speed. Find the mass of the second body.

31. Imagine a light planet revolving around a very massive star in a circular 3
orbit of radius 𝑅 with a period of revolution 𝑇. If the gravitational force
of attraction between the planet and the star is proportional to 𝑅−5⁄2 , then
find the relation between T and R.

32. To what depth must a rubber ball be taken in deep sea so that its volume 3
is decreased by 0.1%. (The bulk modulus of rubber is 9.8 x 108 NM-2 ;
and the density of sea water is 103 kg m-3).

33. What is a simple pendulum? Find an expression for the time period and 3
frequency of a simple pendulum.

waves.

36. Derive an expression for the acceleration of a solid cylinder rolling 5


without slipping down an inclined plane.

Derive expression for orbital velocity, time period and altitude of a
satellite.
37. Calculate the work done if one mole of an ideal gas is compressed 5
isothermally at a temperature 27⁰C from volume 5𝑙 to 1𝑙. [R=8.31

OR
A particle executes SHM with an amplitude 4 cm. Find the position of a
point where its speed is half its maximum speed. At what displacement is
potential energy equal to kinetic energy ?
