Dear Candidate

As you know our Founding Fathers never intended upon our nation to be served by Career
Politicians.

While I have worked in politics or government in some capacity for most of my adult life, being
an elected official has never been my career. I worked as a history teacher before taking over
Brewbaker Motors, coached youth sports, worked as education liaison for Gov. Fob James and
served ONE term in the state house, and TWO terms in the state senate.

In Alabama, even our legislators serve four year terms, so when I ran for senate, I decided that 8
years would be enough time to accomplish what I could and let someone else have at it. When I
ran for state senate, I pledged to serve no more than two terms if elected and held myself to that
promise despite the encouragement of many to renege on my word.

Members of Congress serve two year terms, and seniority is important when it comes to the ability
to accomplish the job and best serve the people of the state and nation. As such, I am pledging
today to serve no more than 5 terms (or 10 total years) in Congress should I be elected.

I am taking this pledge voluntarily – and while I welcome the support of any organization
advocating for term limits in government – I am doing so of my own volition because it is the
right thing to do, and not to curry favor with any organization or constituency.

I am also pledging that I will never become a lobbyist once my service in Congress is over.

I ask you to join me in taking this voluntary pledge to the people of District 2. I have made and
honored this pledge before, so you know my word is good.

All The Best,

Dick L. Brewbaker
