1.0 PURPOSE
This procedure describes the minimum requirements to be complied with for
hydrostatic test performed on bottom part of C-0701.2 Vent Gas Wash Tower that
fabricate by Bucida Engineering & Consultancy Sdn. Bhd.
2.0 REFERENCE
2.1 PTS 12.20.01, Dec 2018 - Pressure Vessel
2.2 ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1, 2023 Ed. - Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessel
2.3 PTS 12.02.01, Dec 2018 - Field Inspection Prior to Commissioning of Mechanical
Equipment
3.2 All required examinations before hydrostatic test have been performed, except those required
after the test.
3.3 All Non-Conformance Report (NCR) related to the code has been closed and accepted by client
& Third-party Inspector.
4.2 Dial indicating pressure gages used in testing shall be graduated over a range of about double
the intended maximum test pressure, but in no case shall the range be less than 11/2 nor
more than 4 times that pressure. Digital reading pressure gages having a wider range of
pressure may be used, provided the readings give the same or greater degree of accuracy as
obtained with dial pressure gages.
4.3 All gages shall be calibrated against a standard deadweight tester or a calibrated master gage
at least every 1-year or at any time there is a reason to believe that they are in error.
4.4 Prior to testing, test equipment shall be examined to ensure that it is tight and all filling lines
and other appurtenances that should not be subjected to the test pressure have been
disconnected or isolated by valves or other suitable means.
HYDROSTATIC TEST PROCEDURE
Rev. No.: B Page: 4 of 7
5.2 The Equipment may be tested with potable water having maximum chloride content of 250
mg/kg.
5.3 The minimum water temperature shall be 17°C above the MDMT of the vessel.
5.4 All types of hydro test water shall be filtered through 10μm filter while filling the system.
5.5 Vents shall be provided at all high points of the vessel in the position in which it is to be tested
to purge possible air pockets while the vessel is filling.
5.6 The metal temperature during a pressure test shall be maintained at least 17°C (30°F) above
the minimum design metal temperature of the vessel, but need not exceed 48°C. If the test
temperature exceeds 48°C, inspection of the vessel should be delayed until the temperature is
reduced to 48°C or less.
5.7 Hydrostatic test shall be performed prior to painting or other protective coating on the welds
and heat affected zones.
5.8 Hydrostatic test pressure shall be determined as per ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 1.
5.9 The test pressure shall be gradually increased until the test pressure has been reached.
5.10 The equipment shall be held at full test pressure for at least 15 minutes.
5.11 After completion of the Test Pressure holding time, Inspection shall be made at a pressure not
less than the test pressure divided by 1.3. on all joints and connections.
5.12 Leakage is not allowed at the time of the visual inspection & the vessel shall be retest except
for leakage that might occur at temporary test closures for those openings intended for
welded connections.
5.13 The QC Inspector, user, or third-party inspector shall reserve the right to reject the vessel if
there are any visible signs of permanent distortion.
5.14 On completion of inspection, the pressure shall be reduced gradually by opening drain valves
to zero-gauge pressure, drained & dried thoroughly for adequate preservation.

6.0 DOCUMENTATION
6.1 Hydrostatic test shall be witness by QC Inspector, user, third party Inspector, local
authority officer & other related personnel.
6.2 When hydrostatic test is satisfactorily completed, the Pressure Test Report
(Appendix1) and related record shall be signed by witnesses.
