1. What is the difference between ‘Offscan’ and ‘Inhibit’ tags?

2. What is ‘Offscan’ used for?

4. Find tag ‘O06’ in a mimic view and select ‘Offscan Enable’. What
happens to the object?

5. Where can we see all ‘Offscan Tags’? Confirm this by checking


that ‘O06’ has been added to the list.

Exercise 9. Trends and Reports


1. Set up ‘Trend view 7’ with tags ‘P15’, ‘P16 and ‘P17’

2. Change from ‘Static’ to ‘Live’ view and ensure ‘Grid’ is visible.

3. Add tag ‘DG1-CB’. Click the ‘Swap’ button. What happens to the
tags in the trend?

4. How can we view each tag in its own plot?

5. Assign ‘Trend view 7’ as ‘Favourite view 8’.

6. How far back in time can the K-Chief 600 system provide a trend?

7. Set up the ‘Report Manager’ to print out all ‘Active Alarms’ every
day at noon.

8. Select ‘G/E overview’ mimic and add all ‘LO inlet press’ and ‘LO inlet
temp’ tag values to ‘Custom view 6’.

9. ‘Convert’ the tags in ‘Custom view 6’ to ‘Gauge’ and ‘Bargraph’ of


your choice..

10. Use the ‘Add tags’ button and add ‘DG1-SHD’ to the custom view.
Convert this tag to ‘Symbol’. What does it read?

11. Create a report showing ‘Custom view 6’ and set it up to be printed


out every day at 11:00.

Exercise 10. Watch Calling


1. What is the function of Watch Call?

2. What communication protocol does Watch Call use?

3. How is the ‘Engineer Safety System’ activated and de-activated


locally?

4. The ‘Engineer Safety System’ may be set to a time limit somewhere


between 3 to 27 minutes. How can this period be reset before it
expires and sets off the rotating light/alarm horn?

5. On the Watch Bridge Unit (WBU), what does a yellow, ‘flashing’ LED
indicate on the Bridge/Engine Watch button(s)?

6. Open the Watch Calling dialogue box (ECR Watch) on your OS.
What does the yellow hazard triangle with an exclamation mark
indicate?

7. Under which ‘tab’ within the Watch Calling dialogue box (ECR
Watch) can you find further details regarding ‘Connection status’?
