SECTION A (24 MARKS)

1. Discuss the place of History of Education in Teacher Education today

2. Compare and contrast the Education system of Ancient Greece and Ancient China, and highlight
the five ways in which modem education can benefit from them

3. Critically examine the educational ideas of Martin Luther to the development of modem
education

SECTION B (23 MARKS)

4. Critically comment on the Euro-Centric view that there was no education in Africa before the
coming of the Europeans to the continent

5. Assess the role played by the Christian missionaries in the establishment and development of
formal education prior 1920

6. The French colonial administration Approach was considered "Assimilationist" while that of the
British was said to be "Adaptationist". Describe each of these policy approaches and how they
affected the educational practice in their respective colonies.

7. Discuss the role of the colonial government in the development of African education in Kenya
during the interwar period.
