CLE Lecture on Truth and Justice pp. 8-13

The Judgement of Solomon 1st Kings 3: 16-28

A Living Sacrifice to God Romans 12:14; 17-21

Psalm 106:3

Leviticus 19:15

Proverbs 28:5

Which part of the passage is speaking to you?

What are your personal insights about Truth and Justice? How do you define each
concept?

What does it take to be truthful and just?

What are the functions of Truth and Justice?

How can we practice Truth and Justice in our daily lives?

What do you think is the message of God to you behind these lessons?
Answer: Minimum of 15 lines for each.

On Truth

The passage that really spoke to me was the Judgement of Solomon. This story
about how two mothers claimed the living child, while neither claimed the dead
child. However, Solomon’s proposition to divide the baby in half, unraveled the
genuine love of the true mother. In the story, she selflessly offered the child to the
other mother to prevent any harm to her child. To live truthfully and justly is about
embracing values like honesty, fairness, empathy, respect, and a consistent
dedication to improve to your best version. In my opinion, truth recognizes what’s
real and promotes openness. Although, at times the truth can hurt, it is better to
tell the truth than to wait for that lie to turn into a bigger problem. We can practice
being truthful by simply applying it slowly into our words and our actions. Self
reflecting can help us to understand ourselves better as it builds a habit of always
telling the truth.

On Justice

We can define justice as a broader concept that aims to prevent bias and
unfairness in our society. It involves the recognition of truths, creating a peaceful
life. In my understanding, justice ensures fairness, equality, and protects the rights
of vulnerable individuals within our community. It involves treating everyone fairly,
empathizing with different viewpoints, assuming responsibility for our actions,
respecting others' rights and beliefs, and consistently striving to deepen our
understanding of fairness and truth. To me, this concept feels like a spiritual
message, urging us to embody qualities such as compassion, integrity, and
fairness. It serves as a call to action, not only for personal benefit but to contribute
to making society better, encouraging a world where these values serve as guiding
principles.
Reflecting: Do internal processing and relate the passage with your own
understanding and experiences.

How do you feel after meditating on the lessons, passages or story?

Do you see yourself as a truthful person? Why?

Do you see yourself as a just person? Why?

What are some challenges that you encounter that prevent you from practicing Truth
and Justice?

If you have these traits, what benefits do you get from practicing them?

Answer: Minimum of 15 lines

I feel fascinated as to how King Solomon handled the situation so uniquely. I

admire how the mother was willing to sacrifice herself just to save the child. It
shows how a mother’s love is unconditional similarly to how the Lord loves us
as He sent down His only begotten son to be crucified on the cross just to save
us sinners. I would say I am not a truthful person, because as I observe my self I
do not often tell the truth since I am still afraid of what others would think of
me. But as I grow older I am becoming more open to my own characteristics
and I am practicing how to love my self. I would see my self as a just person
because I am really inclined with the concept of fairness. I would want even the
little things to be fair because it really bothers me how sometimes the world
would be so cruel to some people. One common challenge I face is when
someone confronts me. I'm not really the type to confront others, let alone be
confronted. I find it difficult because I don’t enjoy the pressure of being
straightforward or telling the truth, as it might differ from my perspective and
vice versa. This affects my thinking, and when I overthink, it feels like I lack a
sense of being just. Additionally, being biased can make it challenging to
maintain the pure truth or fair justice in certain situations. We can benefit from
practicing truth and justice since it makes us trustworthy people and it will
help us build healthy relationships.
Sharing: Recall a personal experience related to the lesson. Narrate this
experience and share how you responded to the situation. Then, you can also
cite ways on how you can go about it next time you would encounter that
situation again.

Is there a personal story related to the lesson being tackled? What lesson did you
learn from this experience? Narrate this story.

How can you as a student influence the people around you to be truthful and just?

What is your specific plan of actions to further develop the traits of truth and
justice? Enumerate some ways and strategies.

Answer: Minimum of 15 lines

While there isn't a personal story directly linked to the lesson at hand, delving
into the passages has illuminated the significance of truthfulness over
fabricating lies, which often escalates into significant issues. As a student, my
influence can shape others by embodying honesty and justice. Leading by
example, demonstrating honesty and fairness in every action can set a
powerful precedent, encouraging others to follow suit. To enhance these
traits, specific steps include practicing honesty even in tough situations,
seeking guidance from role models, and cultivating empathy to understand
oneself and others more deeply. These actions aim to foster a culture of truth
and justice, nurturing a community where these values become intrinsic.
Through consistent practice and learning from others, a stronger foundation
for truth and justice can be established, affecting individual development and
community peace.

Praying: Take a prayer out of your head and flow the words onto paper. Ask God
to speak to you and pour your heart out.

Is there something that you would want to thank God for?

What are the things and questions that bother you that you would want God to know
or answer?

What are the hopes, desires, and questions in your heart about this area that you
would want to bring to God?

Write a prayer to God asking Him to Help you be optimistic and grateful.

Answer: Minimum of 15 lines

Dear God, I would like to thank you for another lesson that I have learned
through your passages.Yet, I have worries and questions that bother me such
us how I struggle to believe in myself. I need Your help and wisdom to deal with
these uncertainties. Please give me the strength to face my worries and the
patience to find answers. I really hope that i can develop the skill of being to
solve my own problems without too much stress. I pray that you guide me along
this whole journey of a life and that You would continue to watch over me.
Please give me the patience to deal with these problems.I ask for Your
guidance to know which paths to choose. Please help me trust Your plan, even
when things are unclear. Lastly, please help me stay optimistic. Show me the
good in every situation, help me be grateful, and spread positivity and hope to
others. Thank you, God, for Your love and support. I trust in Your grace and
wisdom.
Amen."

Faith in Color: Express your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with regard to
Truth and Justice through pictures, drawings, symbols, and colors.
Movie Review

A. Pagsulat ng Movie Review

1. Buod ng Pelikula
a. Ibigay ang buod ng pelikulang Liway.
katotohanan at hustisya. Magpokus sa tatlong pangunahing tauhan ng pelikula.
i. Liway
ii. Ric
iii. Dakip

2. Pagsusuri sa Pelikula
a. Ibigay ang tema at mensahe ng pelikula.

3. Pagpapakahulugan
truth o katotohanan at justice o hustisya?
b. Ano ang sarili mong pagpapakahulugan sa katotohanan? Kailan dapat inihahayag ang
katotohanan?

4. Pagpapakatao at Pagpapalalim
Dahil dito, hindi ako nakapag-take

Isaalang
alang mga batayan ukol sa malayang paglalahad.

The Similarities and Differences of Truth and Justice

Picture a world where truth and justice blend together, shaping who we are, and echoing
through time and cultures. The concepts of truth and justice, which started long ago, have
been important across many cultures and times, from ancient Mesopotamia to Greek
thinkers like Socrates and Aristotle. They’ve always mattered a lot. Truth is about real events
and facts, forming the basis of reality, while justice ensures equity when dealing with
conflicting claims. Even though they are both different, truth and justice share the
characteristics of playing big roles in how societies work. This essay will identify the
similarities and differences of truth and justice in terms of definition, examples, impact to
society, and many more.

Firstly, truth and justice play important roles in our decision making process. Truth is
important because by relying on facts and honesty, it guides us to make good choices.
Meanwhile, justice guarantees fairness with the decisions we make, making sure that
everyone is treated equally. These principles act as guiding lights, shaping our choices and
encouraging trust within our societies. Additionally their origins come from moral principles,
establishing truth and justice in ethical foundations. Truth is closely tied to moral principles,
honesty, and authenticity, thereby forming the firm foundation of moral integrity. Similarly,
justice finds its roots in moral values, emphasizing the importance of fairness and equity in
how individuals engage and interact within society.

These principles support ethical behavior and maintain honesty, fairness, and equality in
society. Moreover, the similarities between truth and justice extends into legal systems.
Truth seeking is fundamental in legal proceedings to unveil facts, while justice ensures that
the legal processes are impartial and fair for all individuals involved. Truth and justice are
vital to society as they uphold moral integrity and guide us with fair decision making. Truth
and justice are crucial to society and individuals as they provide a framework for a fair and
informed decision-making, ensure equal treatment and fairness for everyone, nurture trust
and integrity within communities, and uphold fundamental values of honesty, authenticity,
fairness, and equality, contributing to a more ethical and harmonious societal existence.

Despite their similarities, truth and justice differ in primary focus, definition, and impact on
relationships. Truth emphasized aligning information with reality, accuracy, and genuine
representation, promoting sincere communication that mirrors the actual existence of
things. Being truthful means being honest and real when you talk or share information to
other people.

On the other hand, justice prioritizes fairness, equality, and safeguarding rights, striving for
balanced outcomes in societal interactions. It aims for a level playing field, treating everyone
impartially and ethically. Justice fosters healthier relationships by addressing complaints
fairly and advocating for equal opportunities, maintaining an environment where everyone’s
rights are respected. Ultimately, justice nurtures a balanced society, encouraging positive
interactions and resolutions grounded in fairness.

The impact of truth on relationships lies in emphasizing transparency and credibility,

fostering trust within connections. Meanwhile, in relationships, justice ensures equitable
treatment, resolving conflicts fairly, and promoting a balanced dynamic by addressing
grievances and upholding fairness.

Both justice and truth hold significant value, each serving distinct purposes in different
contexts. While truth focuses on the accuracy and authenticity of information, justice is
more concerned with fairness, equality, and impartial treatment within societal structures.
For me, I prefer the idea of justice over truth because justice may come with the ability to
make vulnerable people safe and uphold social harmony. Prioritizing justice assures fair
treatment and protection for vulnerable communities, even if revealing the truth could
cause harm or unfair disadvantage. Similarly, it aims for fair and balanced outcomes,
avoiding disruptions to social stability that disclosing certain truths might bring.

In conclusion, the journey through the complex relationship between truth and justice
reveals their enduring significance across human societies. As pillars of upright behavior
and societal structures, truth and justice complement each other while serving distinct
purposes. While truth upholds accuracy and transparency, justice ensures fairness and
equality, collectively contributing to the ethical fabric of our societies. So, their peaceful
existence is important for creating fair societies and guiding us toward a more just and
honest world throughout history.
