BIO SKETCH – Livingstone Caesar, PhD

Dr. Livingstone Caesar is an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics at the Texas


A&M University at Galveston. He works with the Maritime Business Administration
Department of the university where he lectures in Business Statistics, Maritime
Business Analytics and Research Methods. Prior to joining the Texas A&M University at
Galveston in October 2021, Dr Caesar was an Associate Professor of Management
and Entrepreneurship at the SBS Swiss Business School (Zurich) and Nobel
International Business School - NiBS (Accra) for 4 years; during which time he was
also the Director for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Doctor of
Business Leadership (DBL) Programs. He helped designed and accredit the PhD in
Business Administration program at NiBS. Dr Caesar also worked briefly as a
Consultant Research Scientist on European Union grant projects at the Council for
Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Ghana. He is a member of the Decision
Science Institute (DSI) and the International Association of Maritime Economists
(IAME).

Dr Caesar holds a PhD in Management and Commerce from the University of


Tasmania (specifically the Australian Maritime College), Australia. His PhD work
focused on the human capital issues within the global maritime industry. It
specifically applied strategic management models to address the shortage of highly
skilled ship officers. He has taught extensively at the graduate and undergraduate
levels in Australia, Switzerland, Ghana and the United States. He brings enormous
wealth of experience to the boardroom of any organization. He is an experienced,
Australian-trained management consultant and a seasoned academic with over 18
years combined experienced in both the higher education sectors and international
business.

Currently, Dr. Caesar consults for diverse organizations in the following areas: project
logistics, international business negotiations, SC restructuring, management
processes improvement ang big data decisions. typical past consultancy work was
for a government parastatal in Australia. Specifically, Dr Caesar worked in the
validation of forecasting models (for the Maritime Union of Australia) designed for
projecting the manpower training needs of the Australian maritime industry. Another
is a cargo throughput forecasting and analysis for the port of Tema, Ghana.
Additionally, working for 6 years as a logistician in Ghana’s port sector has been one
of the highlights of Dr Caesar’s career. Experiences in the Netherlands, South Korea
(where he had his Masters in Shipping and Transport) and other places (Africa,
Australia, the United States and Switzerland) has equipped Dr Caesar with cultural
competence and the ability to dexterously work with people from all backgrounds in

Principles of Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Business Research Methods,
Leadership and Governance, Logistics, International Trade and Corporate Strategy.

Dr Caesar’s research interests are in but not limited to the following areas:

• Cyber resilience in maritime domains (supply chains)


• Modelling socio-economic impact of maritime cyberattacks
• Sustainability for supply chains (green logistics and shared economy)
• Building dynamic capability for maritime cyber security
• Human capital issues in the maritime industry

Dr Caesar sings and plays musical instruments as a hobby. He also loves the
outdoors – hiking and walking.
