THESE GENERAL NOTES ARE COMMON TO ALL TOWBAR FITTING.
1. Check the box contents and read the fitting instructions thoroughly.
2. Remove any dirt or underseal from the Towbar fixing points. If there is corrosion or accident damage consult your
Towbar specialist before fitting.
3. Always fit shake proof washers.
4. There will be variations from vehicle to vehicle so do not fully tighten the bolts until instructed and observe correct torque
settings – see chart below.
5. Where spacing tubes are supplied they may need trimming to length. Always ensure the tubes are just short.
6. Always seal chassis openings and any drill holes to prevent possible water ingress.
7. Check all nuts and bolts periodically.
8. Never use drop plates as raising plates.
9. All of our Towbars now incorporate the facility for securing the breakaway cable /secondary coupling within the Towbar.
10. All tow bars designed after November 2012 – the secondary coupling point is tested @ 2D up to 15kN. (REG. 55 Standard).
11. Where a bumper cut is required guidance measurements are issued. However, due to model variations some may need
‘trimming to suit’. Care should be taken with this.
12. Always check the vehicle VIN Plate to ensure the vehicle is a Towing vehicle, it is advisable to make the vehicle owner
aware of the Towing capacity displayed on the VIN Plate. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturers recommended towing
limits.
13. After the Towbar is installed always check you have a minimum of 78mm Towball clearance, this is from the vehicle body
to the centre of the Towball.
14. Always remove the paint from the Towball if using a stabiliser hitch.
