3 Arcode Basic Usage and Common Settings


Every adjustment and setting can be performed with AREM handheld tool. Most of the settings are
located under main menu which can be accessed via “Tools” button of AREM.

AREM Main status screen when it is connected to CAN-Bus line.

To enter menu, press “Tools” button on AREM

When pressed first time to “Tools” button you will see the
figure on the left. AREM has 3 different user access levels. As
“Installer”, “Maintainer” and “Guest” which have system
access level. And “Installer” has uppermost access level in
system. For first installation its access code is“000000” for all
access level. To enter menu press Enter button.

3.1 Ignoring Landing Calls

3.2 How to Give Calls

There are 2 methods to give floor commands by AREM:

One is through special "Car and Landing Calls" screen and the other secret key combination in main
status screen.

3.2.1 Giving Calls through "Car and Landing Calls" Screen

- Press INFO key. Select "Car and Landing Calls" icon. Press ENTER key.

- Move the red rectangle (cursor) to the desired floor by using UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT keys.

- Press ENTER key to give a car command to that floor.

Method 2:

- Press INFO key. Select "Basic status screen" icon. Press ENTER key.

While in "Basic status screen":

- First press the F2 button.

- Then within 3 seconds, press UP or DOWN buttons the number of times desired (N).

If UP key was pressed N times:

- Arcode will get a car command to the floor: (current floor + N)

If DOWN key was pressed N times:

- Arcode will get a car command to the floor: (current floor - N)

Note: If selected floor is out of the shaft range; i.e. above top floor (or below bottom floor);

then the top floor (or bottom floor) will be selected.

Note: If the parameter "Cancelling car COP calls on second press" is set to "On" in the parameters;
giving a car call to the same floor 2 times will delete the call.

3.3 Disable/Enable doors

Press TOOLS key. Select "System tools" icon. Press ENTER key.

- Select "Disable doors" or "Enable doors" button by UP/DOWN


keys. Press ENTER key.

- A message "Doors are disabled" or "Doors are enabled" will be


displayed. Press ENTER key to close the message.

3.4 Speed Measurement


Speed of the car can be observed with 3 ways.

- Speed value is shown on the 7 segment display of the Arcode main unit while car is moving.
- Speed value is shown on the 7 segment display of the ETM board.
- Speed value is shown on the AREM hand held terminal main status display.

3.5 Parameter Settings

When entered menu to select “Device Parameters” use


direction arrows and press Enter button to enter “Device
Parameters”. All parameters are listed in a menu tree
structure.

3.6 Ignoring Limits on Recall

To ignore limit switches 817 and 818 move active menu item
through menu tree by up and down keys and select “On
inspection and recall limits” item which is found under “Other
Settings” menu item.

3.7 Permanent Error Reset

This item only enabled if there is a permanent error on the


system.

To reset permanent errors press the “clear permanent error”


button.

Turn the recall operation switch located on the recall hand terminal
to “REV” position.

3.8 UCM Function Test

To enable “UCM Function Test” button in system tools screen,


user needs to turn on “Acceptance test tools” parameter.

For the special test functions press the UCM test functions
button which can be found in the system tools screen.

There is two UCM test functions available to user. One is test


at inspection speed and the other is full torque test.

UCM test at Inspection speed can be started when the recall


switch turns to inspections mode. Test activated when
up/down inspection movement button pressed.

UCM test at full torque speed can be started when the recall
switch turns to inspections mode. Test activated when
up/down inspection movement button pressed. This test
duration is limited to 60 seconds. After 60 seconds test mode
deactivated. This time duration can be observed on Arcode 7
segment display with an audible second sound tick.

4.1 Braking System Tests


4.1.1 Emergency Braking

4.1.1.1 Identify whether the brake reduces speed with the car loaded at 125% of the rated
load and moving at rated speed when the power supply is interrupted (EN 81-1,
Annex D, D2, d and EN81-1, 12.4.2.1)
