BBC Media Action National Reach Survey of COVID-19 Media Programming
2021 –Somalia
Nationally representative quantitative sample survey to measure the reach, explore levels of en-
gagement and evaluate the impact of the key media and communication outputs of the project
(audio and visual Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and the radio programme Hagaha Nolos-
ha (Life Guidance). It was also to collect data on media access and the use of different platforms
including; radio, TV and social media.

FAO Somalia Monitoring services in Somaliland, Puntland and Somalia


Impact assessment which adopted a combined approach that utilized both quantitative and
qualitative methods. A sample survey was conducted to collect quantitative data from benefi-
ciaries that was used to measure the direct impact of the interventions on beneficiaries on the
household food and nutrition security as well as the impact on the livelihoods, while a rapid rural
assessment (RRA) exercise was designed and administered to collect and analyse qualitative
information.

RTI Came Leasing /USAID Funded Study


Aimed to explore in more detail the benefits of camel leasing to pastoral household; learn more
about the incentives of, and benefits to, dairy companies; and identify any unintended positive or
negative consequences of camel leasing for pastoral households and Communities

USAID/GEEL Annual Outcome Survey


Project designed to promote and facilitate inclusive economic growth in Somaliland, Puntland
and other existing and emerging federal states. The project focused on the agricultural sector,
fisheries and renewable energy. It also sought to strengthen the business-enabling environment
through improving access to finance, policy and regulation, and business development services.
Focus was given to increase the participation of women and youth in the economy as entrepre-
neurs, employers, and employees.

ASSIGNMENTS cont.
IOM Human Trafficking Assessment in South Central, Somalia
Assessment commissioned by IOM and implemented in collaboration with the Federal Govern-
ment of Somalia, with the financial support from the Government of Japan. The primary purpose
of the assessment was to: gain a comprehensive overview and understanding of Trafficking in
Person (TIP); assess affected populations, recent trends, and their nature and form(s); understand
how Tip is carried out (the modus operandi); and identify measures appropriate to responding to
(Tip) in southern and central Somalia

The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS)/ Danguud Program Evalua-


tion, USAID funding and implemented by IOM
Purpose of the evaluation was to determine the role TIS played in the overall stabilization gains
recorded over the last 4 years at the micro, meso and macro levels across Somalia against the
assumption that TIS may have contributed to the stabilization gains. The evaluation sought to
provide evidence to determine the existence of this contribution, if any.

DFID Promoting Inclusive Market in Somalia (PIMS):


Promoting Inclusive Market in Somalia (PIMS) program was working in the dairy sector (Somalil-
and and Puntland), sesame sector (Shabelle Valley) and fisheries sector (Puntland) to deliver
long term solutions through implementing partners (lead firms) to address the bottle necks
that hinder the optimal functioning of these value chains.

Endline Assessment of Supply & Installation of Solar Street lights in 8 loca-


tions Bari & Karkaar and Goldogob Economic Growth:
This study was meant to track community perceptions of lighting and police station for im-
proved security, with particular consideration of the perceptions of women and female youth
(physical mobility and safety, trust in police, impact of security on ability to conduct business
and socialize). Under this project SSF built Police Station, Market and Street light.

Local Market Survey in South Central Somalia:


Overall goal of this assignment was to establish an updated list of local vendors for goods and
services.
