Willow City Proposal

I propose to start integrating driverless, battery-powered public vehicles instead of trains and
buses in the city center. Recently, we have found that levels of pollution in the city center are
increasing every year due to bad traffic congestion. We are also facing a lack of valuable space
because 95% of our car parks are occupied by personal vehicles. In order to solve this problem, we
need a new, convenient and pollution-free way to transport people.

The best solution would be a driverless, battery-powered people-movers instead of trains and
buses in the city center. The initial investment would be high, but running costs and pollution would
be decreased severely. New infrastructure is not essential. Due to low running costs, we will be able
to reduce the fare, and by doing so, we will increase the use of our service and decrease the use of
car parks.

The long-term strategy is to ban gas-powered vehicles from the centre in 3 years and to
encourage more people to use public transport. I therefore recommend that we purchase a few
vehicles and run a trial before the end of the year. We’ll have much less pollution in 4 years.

Let’s make our willow trees in the city center green (great) again!
