seaboard.
3. The First Joint Exercise between the special forces of the Indian and the Egyptian Army, "Exercise
Cyclone - I" is scheduled to be conducted at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
4. Indian Navy has carried out a six-day-long largest biennial tri-services amphibious "Exercise AMPHEX
2023" along with the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
5. The Border Security Force (BSF) has started an “Ops Alert” Exercise with an aim to enhance security
along the India-Pakistan border in the Kutch district of Gujarat and Barmer in Rajasthan.
6. The 6th edition of the Joint Exercise "TARKASH' has concluded in Chennai by the National Security
Guard (NSG) and the US Special Operations Force (SOF).
7. India - Japan Joint training Exercise “Dharma Guardian" will be conducted at Camp Imazu in the Shiga

18. The 13th edition of a bilateral Armour Training Exercise "Bold Kurukshetra" 2023 was held between
India and the Singapore Army at Jodhpur Military Station, Rajasthan, India.
19. The 2nd edition of the Africa-India Field Training Exercise "AFINDEX-2023" between India and 23
African nations began at the Foreign Training Node in Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra for training the
participating contingents.
20. The Annual bilateral Maritime Exercise "Konkan 2023" between the Indian Navy of India and the
Royal Navy of the United Kingdom is being held at the Konkan coast in the Arabian Sea.
21. The Indian Army and Indian Air Force jointly conducted the multi-domain 96-hour Air-Land Exercise
“Vayu Prahar” along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Eastern command.

28. 21st Edition Of India France Bilateral Naval Exercise ‘VARUNA’ – 2023 Held in the Arabian Sea.
29. INS Sumedha arrived at Port Alexandria, Egypt to participate in ‘Exercise BRIGHT STAR- 23’. This
edition of the multinational Tri-Services military exercise will see participation from 34 countries. It is
the largest ever joint military exercise in Middle East & North Africa region.
30. Indian Air Force Makes Its Debut In Exercise BRIGHT STAR-23 In Egypt.
31. "Operation Sajag", a drill was conducted by the Indian Coast Guard along the west coast. The drill
facilitates revalidation of the coastal security mechanism and bring awareness among the fishermen at

32. Indian Army and Indian Air Force contingent comprising 120 personnel departed for Kazakhstan to
take part in the 7th edition of Joint Military "Exercise KAZIND-2023". The Exercise was conducted at

part in the second edition of Joint Military Exercise AUSTRAHIND-23. The Exercise will be conducted at

46. A contingent of 45 personnel from the Indian Armed Forces has arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, to
participate in the fourth edition of the Joint Military Exercise VINBAX-2023 between India & Vietnam.

BILLS PASSED IN LOK SABHA / RAJYA SABHA IN 2023
1. The Inter-services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023, was introduced in Lok
Sabha on March 15, 2023. It seeks to empower the Commander-in-Chief or Officer-in-Command of
Inter-services Organisations to exercise disciplinary or administrative control over the service personnel
under their command, irrespective of their service
2. The Forest Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok Sabha on Mar 29, 2023. The
Bill amends the Forest Conservation Act, 1980 to make it applicable to certain types of land. These
include land notified as a forest under the Indian Forest Act, 1927 or in government records after the
1980 Act came into effect. The Act will not be applicable for land converted to non-forest use before
December 12, 1996.
3. The Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok Sabha on April 5,
2023. The Bill amends the Coastal Aquaculture Authority Act, 2005. The Act defines coastal aquaculture

as farming, under controlled conditions, of: (i) shrimp, (ii) prawn, (iii) fish or (iv) any other aquatic life in
saline or brackish water. The Bill expands the scope of coastal aquaculture to include allied activities
such as hatcheries and nucleus breeding centres.
4. The Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was introduced in Rajya Sabha on July 20, 2023. The Bill
amends the Cinematograph Act, 1952. The Act constitutes the Board of Film Certification for certifying
films for exhibition. Such certifications may be subject to modifications/deletions. The Board may also
refuse the exhibition of a films.
5. The National Dental Commission Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok Sabha on July 24, 2023. The Bill
repeals the Dentists Act, 1948 and constitutes: (i) the National Dental Commission, (ii) the Dental
Advisory Council and (iii) three autonomous Boards for regulating dental education and standards of
dentistry.
6. The National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok Sabha on July 24,
2023. It repeals the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947. The Bill provides for the regulation and
maintenance of standards of education and services for nursing and midwifery professionals.
7. The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was introduced in Lok Sabha on
July 24, 2023. The Bill amends the Constitution (Scheduled Caste) Order, 1950, with respect to its
application to Chhattisgarh. The Order lists the castes and tribes deemed to be Scheduled Castes in
states and union territories.
8. The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2023 seeks to amend the 1969 Act. It was
introduced in Lok Sabha on July 26, 2023. The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 provides for
the regulation and registration of births and deaths. As of 2019, the national level of registration of
births was 93% and death registration was at 92%. The Law Commission (2018) recommended the
inclusion of marriage registration in the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969
9. The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok
Sabha on July 26, 2023. The Bill amends the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act,
1957. The Act regulates the mining sector.
10. The Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023 was introduced in
Lok Sabha on July 27, 2023. The Bill amends the Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation)
Act, 2002. The Act regulates mining in maritime zones of India.
11. The Indian Institute of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok Sabha on July 28,
2023. The Bill amends the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017. The Act declares Indian Institutes
of Management (IIMs) as institutes of national importance and regulates their functioning. IIMs provide
post-graduate education in the field of management and allied areas.
12. The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was introduced in Lok
Sabha on Aug 1, 2023. The Bill establishes the National Capital Civil Services Authority, which consists of
the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary of Delhi, Principal Home Secretary of Delhi. The Authority will make
