Best practices of an organization plays an essential role to its success. It is a driving force
of a company to move forward without getting lost from the principles they have at the
beginning of their journey in the business world. Various practices were adopted by
different companies and of course they were also able to be a pioneer on doing specific best
practices aligned on their company’s mission statement. Upon researching thoroughly about
the best practices that our chosen company which is the Xerox Company Holdings have, we
were able to find different best practices on different aspects of their company.

A. Best Practices within the Organization

First and foremost, to be able to be successful, the organization must


pay attention on how their organization will work, their direction, what they
want to achieve and how they are going to achieve their goals.

a. Continuous Innovation
Of course, for the most cases, companies doesn’t want
to have a stagnant progress, with that, ever since the
foundation of the Xerox Company holdings, they
already have a desire to consistently introduce products
that is not only new but also expected to be a great help
to people’s everyday lives especially in an office. Xerox
believed that innovation is the key to creating a better
future, not only to their organization but to the world as
a whole. They never walked away from that vision, and
recently they have introduced a service that aims to
make working easy and flexible, the “Distributed
Capture” by Xerox Capture & Content. To briefly explain
about this innovation, machines are connected in an
app where you can manage with ease every document
that is running around the company, for example you
can just scan the document, send it to the recipient you
intend to share the document with, all in a matter of
minutes and without physically mailing or transporting

Although we are in a time where equality is promoted,
we cannot deny that there are still discrimination may it

management, they consider ideas and perspectives of
their employees from diverse ethnicities, they believe
that diversity among their employees helps the
company see different angles on every situations, that is

in hand. We cannot focus on the other while neglecting the other if we wanted
to be successful in the industry or in our business. Without the environment
that we have, the nature, we cannot survive or even have materials to produce
or conduct services. Businesses should bear in mind, even us ordinary people,
that the nature doesn’t need us but we need it, if we will not give it importance,
if we neglect on taking care of it, we might lose it, and consequently we’ll lose
everything we have even our lives. Therefore, before it is too late, we must
make a move to save the earth. With that in mind, there are companies that
work with great consideration to the environment. Among them is Xerox
Company Holdings that promotes sustainable innovations not only within their
corporation but also in the society. “Together we stand, divided we fall.” They
work hand-in-hand with their customers to exercise sustainability without
compromising productivity.

Xerox Company’s practices for the environment are as follows:

a. Environment and Sustainability

According to Xerox, sustainability is their way of


doing business. Ever since their company was
founded, their goals are aligned to preserving the
environment as well as the health and safety of
people. They strive to maintain their goal to do their
best to achieve their mission to preserve the
environment and enhancing the health and safety
of their employees as well as the community they
are in. Here, there are things that are already

further elaborate their intentions to take care of the
environment. They have six key areas that they
initiate to make a world impact: Carbon Footprint,
Paper, Clean Air and Water, Waste, Chemical
Management, and Health and Safety; all will be
discussed below:

Xerox Company are doing initiatives to
reduce their use of energy and have a
goal to have zero carbon footprint in
the future. In fact, they already have
exceptional progress regarding this goal
of them. They have statistics about it
and information about this is accessible
by any person, to show transparency,
and to show that they religiously
conform to their goal.
ii. Paper
Paper have become a part of our daily
lives already, and because it was too
common to us, we often waste it but
Xerox as a company who is committed
to preserving the environment makes
ways to decrease paper wastes. Xerox
have a long-term goal to support a
sustainable paper cycle and minimize
environmental impacts without
neglecting to satisfy their customers’
demands. They also involve their
customers on their earth preservation
mission by encouraging them to
exercise earth-friendly working-flows,
they also launched a program with a
theme of “You print one, we plant one”
where every report of printing in a
paper they will plant a tree, to make
sure that resources will not run out and
at the same time, bringing back the
green earth back to life. Xerox have
more than this initiative through paper
usage. They continue to come up with
ways to minimize wastes with their
products and services.
iii. Clean Air and Water
Xerox have been exerting efforts to
eliminate toxic materials in their
products as much as possible from the
process of manufacturing it to disposing
it. Xerox makes sure that their products
are produced according to their goal to
have sustainable development. Not
only in their internal processes that
they are strict on adhering to their
mission to be environment-friendly, as
mentioned earlier, they also makes sure
that their suppliers align with this goal
of them. They work with their suppliers
to maintain environmental
sustainability. This is a great practice in
business because this will result to
domino effect, they’ll be able to
influence others and the trend will
continue on and on. Through this,
sooner or later, we will all be able to
have fresh air and water as how we had
it before the earth was intoxicated by
various toxic chemicals.
iv. Waste
Xerox have been exercising Waste-free
factory for a long time already and still,
they continue to practice that. As the
time goes by, more and more ways are
introduced not only in their company
but also in the community are shared
regarding how to lessen the waste that
we leave in this earth, in fact, Xerox
have a vision of totally leaving no more
waste while still efficiently serving their
customers. They have implemented
programs and even joined alliances for
proper waste management and
minimization. They also encourages
people to recycle and reuse or at least
bring back to them things they have
produced that already replaceable and
they’ll do the work on how to reuse or
recycle things. According to them, they
were able to prevent tons and tons of
wastes to reach the landfills, this is a
huge move to keep a clean and green
environment.

Being a company that produces
different products that goes through
and uses chemicals, they have set
themselves to produce products that
are hazard-free and they give their best
to lessen the toxic chemical usage both
in their part and on the part where
clients and customers are already using
it. Along with this, we have mentioned
that they have standards on selecting
their suppliers, and as a condition to be
their supplier, supplier must comply
with their demand of less-chemical
usage as a part of managing their
chemical wastes. Xerox really is a
