Introduction
- ‘Jaisalmer Desert Festival’ is an annual festival that takes
place in Rajasthan in the Hindu month of Magh ( February ).

- The festival takes place in the Thar Desert, 42 kilometers


away from Jaisalmer.

- The festival is a wonderful combination of colours,


traditional music, and local foods.

- The festival is considered to be one of ‘folk fusion’, that


inclulates traditions of Rajasthan as a symbol of
celebration.
Importance of Jaisalmer Desert
Festival as a tourist attraction
- Tourists will be able to witness the rich traditions and
cultures of Rajasthan, such as -

- Traditional folk dances - Ghoomar and Gair


- Traditional music instruments - dhol and shehnai
- Camel races
- Turban tying competitions
- Mr, Desert competition
- Camel polo match

- Fire dances

in the Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, India.

- It takes place in September and brings together music

country,

- Apart from the music performances by both established


and emerging artists, the festival also promotes the
cultural heritage of the region by incorporating local
traditions, crafts, and cuisines.
