Week Action plan-Aims/targets
no. What do you want to achieve this
week? How will you do this?
1 For everyone: I want to make sure I
know what pieces I’m doing and
who I’m doing them with. To do
this I will have discussions with the
people I want to do the pieces with
and make sure we know what
performances we’re doing. This will
help us with finding our pieces
quicker and then finding the
context of the pieces before next
week so we can begin the
rehearsal time quicker.
In particular I want to do a solo
piece from Jekyll and Hyde or
Addams family. But I need to
decide which one will better suit
my voice and I will find more fitting
to do. I want to do a tap piece as
well as it’s something that I don’t
believe has been done before, I
want to do this with Libby and
rosella but we have to find a way
to practice this frequently as it’s
going to be difficult. I also want to
do a group performance with some
on my peers in and do “we don’t
talk about Bruno” we want to do

What progress have you made this week?
Michelle- N/A
Lee- we began going through killer queen
and starting learning our different
harmonies. I also chose my song for the
audition, I started by looking through
different fantasy/sci-fi musicals I look at
Addams family and Jekyll and Hyde. I looked
at pulled from Addams family but decided it
wasn’t quite my style as my vocal range is
different to the song but I did like the
storyline behind it and would like to
perform it in the future. I then looked at
“someone like you” from Jekyll and Hyde
and it suited my voice a lot better. I also like
that I can add a lot of emotion and depth to
the piece by adding characterisation. We
also worked really hard on our group piece
“we don’t talk about Bruno” I went away to
watch encanto and focus in on my character
to see how see behaved in order to portray
her the best. I noticed my character Mirabel
walks quite confidently and is unbothered
by the way her sister Isabella treats her so I
will make sure to add the when performing
the piece live. She is also very curious and
really wants to understand about why her

made this week?
Staging/props/lighting/costume/sound etc
Michelle- N/A
Lee- We also began to look at lighting with joe
and got the chance to work through our piece
with the lighting sound and a few of the props.
Which makes me feel very confident about this
piece because we have already got so far in
week 2. We decided on mostly green lighting
with flashes of other colours throughout then
at the end do be warm lighting because we
wanted to represent all of the characters
throughout whilst having and the main colour
green like the movie. Also looked more in
depth into staging and wether or not to have
tables and chairs throughout. In the musical
they bring on the table in the middle of the
performance, we tried this, however it was far
too noisy and you couldn’t hear people singing.
So we tried doing it with the tables and chairs
on all the time. This was much easier and didn’t
make as much noise so we decided to keep
them on throughout and dance around them
because it’s more convenient because it made
a lot less noise.
Owen- We haven’t really began to work on
production for this lesson although we have
 this to add a more cheerful piece
to the showcase as the majority of
them will properly be quite dark.
2 Lee- for our group pieces we progressed
family is the way it is. So when performing
Ill add a curiousness to my character to
make it more authentic.
Owen- we started off by going through our
group song however none of us seemed to
like it that much so we decided to have a
look at some more that we preferred. We
looked at shrek the musical, 2 from
hadestown. We then started by looking
through the song and watching versions
performed live to see all the
characterisation. After that we then began
going through our individual pieces so in my
case rosella and I looked through several
duets that we could do as it’s hard to find a
female musical theatre duet that fits the
theme. But in the end we decided to stick
with the original song we had in mind which
is “in his eyes” because it’s a very emotional
piece that rosella and I believe we can do as
we have a good connection.
with killer queen, this proved difficult as the
looked at different ways we could perform our
pieces, in particular hadestown. We looked at
one live performance that has many extra
characters which looked very good but we
don’t have that many people to work with.
Then we looked at one performed at the Tony’s
in 2019 there were less people but it was still
effective. So we looked and got ideas from this
one instead. With our own pieces we started
looking at costumes for our duet, we need to
find costumes that clearly contrast each other
because my character (Lucy) lived on the
streets whereas rosellas character (Emma) lives
in a mansion and we need to make that clear to
the audience.
Lee- for mine and rosellas duet we started
looking at the staging, we wanted to have the
harmonies were harder than we expected.
Me, rosella and Libby were on top harmony
and realised that we could do the harmony
perfectly fine when we did it on our own
but when we tried it all together we found
it hard to keep out harmony. We also
started to look at hot pototee and radio
gaga, again I was on the top harmony for
hot pototee with rosella and the middle
harmony for radio gaga as I thought I’d
challenge myself with a lower key, hot
pototee was relatively easy the learn
because the majority of the song is a solo so
we only have to learn the chorus. It was far
easier to learn than killer queen. Radio gaga
was a bit harder because I’m not used to
being in the middle harmony so finding the
right note was harder than usual. Lee also
told us what other songs were going to be
in showcase they were, science fiction, floor
show, radio gaga and glitter boots.
Adam- in adams lesson we began to learn
the choreography for radio gaga, for me the
choreography was relatively easy to grasp
however it was difficult for us as a group
because the timing was very specific, if one
of us was off it would be very noticeable
meaning we had to go through the
movements many times to make sure
everyone was doing it at the same time. It
illusion of split stage to show we were in two
different locations, we thought this could be
done with either black out on the side where
the person wasn’t singing or having to different
colour light on either sides of the stage.
However we thought the black out idea would
be quite distracting. We thought of getting a
lamppost for my side of the stage to show i’m
outside and a dressing table for rosella because
she’s in her bedroom. We found two perfect
costumes on Amazon however we haven’t
bought them because this piece isn’t
guaranteed to get in. We will buy them if it
does. We haven’t yet looked at staging for any
of lees tutor led pieces other than lady gaga
but we have looked at the YouTube videos of
them to get some ideas. Adam is
choreographing these pieces so we won’t do
them in lees lesson.
Adam- when going through glitter boots we
decided that there would be many lights
involved in the pieces such as multicoloured
lights and strobe lights. To give it the space
atmosphere. We also suggested a smoke
machine and glitter to make the stage even
more chaotic. After looking at a video of
glitterboots being performed live we knew we
need to get sparkly high boots and shiny silver
outfits with different accessories to match each
space vixen and to show their different
was quite frustrating because not everyone
was paying attention during the lesson
meaning we were told to stop early. I think
this really hindered the progress of that day
but had to be done as people were loosing
focus quickly. After the first 2 hours group
two left and we took a quick look at glitter
boots. I got given the role of Jubilee (one of
the space vixens, a shared role with Cleo).
We blocked a bit of the staging for the
chorus because we haven’t learnt the song
completely yet.
Michelle- in Michelles lesson some of us
had to learn hot pototee because we were
out with Adam the week prior. We had to
work out the staging because there was a
lot of us to fit into the routine. The
choreography was very fast but the moves
were relatively simple for me to learn, again
it was just a case of staying in the right
place at all times and getting the
choreography exactly right.
Owen- in owens lesson I went through my
solo which rosella and worked on the
staging, we decided to set it outside
because in the videos we watched they
were set outside and it fits with what’s
going on in the musical very well. For the
tutor led pieces worked on the harmonies
for hadestown although we hadn’t got parts
personalities.
Michelle- For hot pototee I’m not too sure
what we are wearing, but for killer queen we
know it’s most likely going to be plain black
outfits with sparkly canes and then Tyler will
wear a purple or red sparkly suit because we
think he’ll be the killer queen.
Owen- for my solo I began to think of what
lighting would be best for the song, I haven’t
yet tried any of the lighting because I need to
speak to joe before doing that. But I have
written down my ideas. For example I want the
effect of rain so I think flickering the lights and
having them quite cool would kind of create
the illusion of rain. Because I think it will be
very effective and create the illusion that I’m
outside in the rain.
Owen- no progress made with this…
Lee- no progress made.
 yet we could still see which harmony suited
peoples voices the best. We also went
through suddenly seymore which had
already been cast by lee. We went through
the chorus lines and did the harmonies and
fit them in around rosella and Tyler singing.
I was in the higher harmony again as I find it
suits my voice the most.
3 Lee- in week 3 we started a more in depth
look on glitter boots I had already learnt my
lines for my part that were given to us last
week. The harmonies for this were very
easy because the chorus repeats itself
“glitter boots saved my life” and the verses
are sung by the 3 vixens (me/Cleo, Maddie
and rosella). We also started looking at
floor show and science fiction, again the
majority of both these songs are the main
characters singing the versus and the
chorus singing the chorus. We haven’t yet
decided who the main characters are for
both of these but it was good to look
through them to get an idea of what the
song was about and who the different
characters are.
Michelle- in Michelle’s lesson we continued
choreographing killer queen the ending was
particularly difficult because we couldn’t get
anything to time right with the end of the
song. Using canes throughout the dance
 also makes it more difficult because you’ve
got to concentrate on keeping your cane in
your hand as well as dancing which
definitely caused a few problems whilst
rehearsing.
Owen- in owens lesson we each ran
through our individual pieces I focused on
my solo and ran through some ideas on
staging I started by just standing but I
thought there wasn’t enough movement so
I decided to add a chair and sit on it at the
beginning of the song to make it feel more
emotional and to connect with the
audience and then stand up at the most
dramatic part of the song.
Adam- we were in the drill hall this week
going through glitter boots, it was quite
difficult to do there because there wasn’t
much space but we managed to
choreograph Maddie’s solo section which
was quite difficult compared to the rest of
the dance. I enjoyed this part because I like
the fact we can show off out dancing ability
more in the song. We also had a quick run
through of radio gaga to make sure we
remembered the part we learnt previously.

4 Michelle- in Michelle’s lesson we ran over

killer queen again because we were finding
 it difficult to choreograph the last part still
because the timing is so different. We also
went through our theory work to make sure
we were all up to date with the coursework
set. We then got the chance to show off our
dance to group two and then by showed us
theirs.
Adam- in adams lesson we were both
together going through radio gaga as a
whole group to perfect it (the ending in
particular) we also went through glitter
boots twice with me as jubilee and then
Cleo. We also got a chance to watch group
2s dance with Adam, all I need is disco.
