Project Title Final Major Project: It Snows

Section 1: Review
Coming into this course I was anxious about not having as much acting experience as others and not
having the love for musicals and theater shows that everyone else seemed to have. Now actually being on
the course I have come to realize that there are many people like me, who share the passion for acting but
haven’t been in any shows or acting classes outside of college; and it’s not about our past experience but
about what we’re willing to learn whilst enrolled on the course. I have also discovered that I enjoy and do
also thrive on the fast pace professional environment we have been thrown into since the first day. By
working with practitioners that are within the industry you can observe and analysis how everyone works in
diverse ways and explore what does and doesn’t work for you. At the start I was apprehensive and would
often feel vulnerable when trying out new things such as improve, but as time went on I gained friendships
and learnt to place my trust in people. This made my confidence saw which would then lead me into letting
loose and giving it my all. Something I previously have disliked is when I surround myself with peers who
aren’t motivated as this has had a knock on effect on me. I have discovered all about the creative process
behind performances and what it actually takes to produce an amazing show. The reason I have chosen
the acting discipline is because I hope to peruse it as a career in film and tv; however one thing I have
uncovered while being on this course is the opportunity’s you have to look further into performing arts and
what else it has to offer you besides physical acting, for example becoming a screenwriter or a director.
This is something that I am looking forward to foresee in the future.

Section 2: Project Concept

. We also got to look into the world of “weird kid” and began discovering the type of world they live in
through their small window; however there are still many answered questions that we have which I believe
the writer has done so we can interpret things the way we want and leave it up to our imagination. The
relationship between characters The play that we produced was called “It Snows” and was all about the
conflicting types of relationships between characters and how the atmosphere can shift when it snows;
and how it contradicts the behavior of the characters beforehandare very contradicting and shows the
different types of love people have for each other(which changes after it snows) so this is something I will
be researching within the play. For example Caitlin and Cameron have a romantic teenager type of
relationship and it only begins to blossom at the bus stop after the snow appears whereas the relationship
Cameron has with the lads is a bullying connection which seems too dwindle as time goes on. I’ll explore
this with the actors who play the roles and ensure the audience understand and feel the mood switching
and change in atmosphere by the power in their voices, physical levels within the characters and changes
in movement on stage. As this play is heavily movement based we will have to all work together as a
group to ensure we’re all on time and on the same page, because initially we tell the story through our
bodies not our mouths. Therefore if something doesn’t look right or if someone doesn’t know their part it
can corrupt the whole meaning of the play. Working with our director an movement director I look forward
in seeing how we portray this production through movement and really bring it too life.

Section 3: Evaluation
How I will reflect on my work will be taking notes in my script during rehearsals on stage directions, and
developing deeper into my characters with their thoughts and feelings throughout the play. I will also go
into the rehearsal with an action plan on what I want achieve that day so I can stay focused and stay on
track as I have a tendency to procrastinate and loose focus. I will record weekly reflection videos were I
talk about what I’ve done that week, challenges I’ve faced, what I want to improve for next week
rehearsals and things that I think went well and I’d like to continue. In terms of developing my work I will be
asking our director for her advice on things she feels I could improve on and also asking my peers around
me as they can help me play around with scenes and help me try out new things that have the potential to
work; they also can give me an audiences perspective so problems I may not have noticed before can
easily be picked up on. One negative thing about working with my peers is as I mentioned earlier
becoming easily distracted so I’ve just got to focus on the bigger picture and remember that everything I
do in rehearsals does have a big impact on the final performance.
