MOTIVATION LETTER TO STUDY ENGLISH IN AN ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY

I am writing to let you in on what informs my decision to have the desire of furthering my English studies
in your marvelous country. My name is Lykov Roman Vladimirivich and I am 33 years old. I am an
engineering major in "Applied Geodesy" and I completed my bachelor’s degree program in 2012 in the
Siberian State Academy of Geodesy. I am currently studying English at Tagoe Language Center in
Kazakhstan. I am elated with the idea of being able to speak English fluently.

I would love to inform you that I love to interact with students and other people from other countries
through my hobbies of hiking, hockey and cycling. Apart from these, I also enjoy watching discovery
channel. These sportive and activity based hobbies have helped me to gain the skill of self-discipline and
punctuality. During my study in your country, I will also take advantage of having first-hand experience
to have interactions and conversations with native English speakers at all times which I believe I don’t
have in my day to day life in my country which is affecting my progress of mastering the English
language.

I am thrilled with the New Zealand system of education and I feel it has the right curriculum to help me
exploit my full potentials. It is my desire to be good at speaking English that motivated to enroll myself
on an English speaking course in Kazakhstan even though I am from Russia and living in Russia I looked
and searched for a native speaker English teacher and moved to Kazakhstan to study with this teacher
for some months and though as I am making progress, my inability to communicate and speak English at
all times is hindering my progress because there are twenty four hours in a day and I only study English
for an hour in a day for five days with the teacher and do some self-study in my free time.

My ardent desire to studying English abroad especially in New Zealand is as a result of me believing that
this will give me the opportunity to interact with native English speakers at all times to broaden my
mindset and to sharpen my intellect. I am very keen that New Zealand will offer me numerous
opportunities and knowledge that I need as international student to be able to succeed academically
and later in my professional life. My lack of practice of my speaking in my own country is what has made
me take this important decision in my life. Therefore, I am writing this letter to apply for an opportunity
to study English in your country to help me gain my fluency at the shortest possible time.

It is my honest prayer that you consider this letter with a kind heart and allow me the opportunity to
turn these childhood hopes and ambitions into a reality.

I am counting on your kind co-operation. Thank You.

Yours faithfully,
