This Service Manual describes procedures for inspecting, repairing and changing the settings of the Resusci
Flow. It also describes precautions and troubleshooting in alarm conditions.
The procedures described in this Service Manual should be carried out only by those who are trained in the
operation of the unit. Neither Atom Medical Corporation nor its representative will be responsible for the quality
and performance of the unit if the unit should not be handled as instructed or if unauthorized parts should be used
in repairs. It should be noted that any responsibility arising from inspecting, repairing or changing the settings of
the unit lies with the person who carried it out.
Read this Service Manual carefully and familiarize yourself thoroughly with its contents before inspecting, repair-
ing or changing the settings of the unit.
Keep this Manual where it is readily accessible for reference in case of need.
For more detailed information on inspecting, repairing and changing the settings of the unit, contact your local
Atom representative.
CAUTION
This product is shipped without being disinfected. Be sure to clean and disinfect the unit before
using it for the first time after purchase.
Used parts and products past their lives should be disinfected and/or sterilized and then disposed
of as medical wastes in accordance with applicable waste disposal laws and regulations.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read the Manual carefully before operating the unit. Please follow the instructions in operating it.
z Basic Instructions
1. Medical institutions should be responsible for the maintenance and inspection of the unit.
2. When you have decided to have the unit maintained and inspected or when the unit is found in need of repair
from the results of inspection, consult your local Atom representative, and
1) have the work carried out by a person with adequate technical knowledge and skills who has completed a
training course specified by Atom, or
2) ask Atom to send a service engineer if no such a person with adequate technical knowledge and skills who
has completed a training course specified by Atom is available, or
3) ask Atom for its approval of returning the unit for repair service.

x Definitions of Warning Indication
Three levels of warning indication are used throughout this Manual and on the unit. They are defined as
follows.
A CAUTION notice indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, can result in
CAUTION: minor or moderate injury, partial damage to equipment, and loss of data stored
in computers.
c Definition of Symbols
General attention
Indicates unspecified general danger, warning or caution.
General prohibition
Indicates unspecified general prohibition.
Prohibition of disassembly
Indicates prohibition of disassembly of the unit where it may cause an electric shock or other
hazards.
Prohibition of use of fire
Indicates prohibition of use of fire where an external use of fire may cause the unit to ignite
under certain conditions.
General instruction
Indicates unspecified general action on the part of the user.
Date of manufacture
Indicates the date when the unit was manufactured in the factory.
2
v General Precautions
CAUTION
Only those who are qualified and authorized by Atom or by a repair shop properly trained in the
handling of the unit should inspect, repair, change the settings of or disassemble and assemble the
unit.
In replacing a part, make sure that the new part you intend to use is the one specified by Atom.
Using a part other than the one specified by Atom for replacement may compromise the safety
feature of the unit.
Do not disinfect the unit by immersing it in a medical fluid; the unit cannot be sterilized by autoclav-
ing or with EOG. Follow the instructions given in the Operation Manual for cleaning and disinfecting
the unit.
After inspecting, repairing, disassembling and assembling, changing the settings of or cleaning
and disinfecting the unit, check that the unit operates properly.

applied when the PEEP/PIP switching orifice is occluded. Also check
that the peak inspiratory pressure (PIP) can be adjusted by turning the
peak inspiratory pressure (PIP) setting knob.
Inspection of the pressures w Check that the positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is applied when
the PEEP/PIP switching orifice is released. Also check that the posi-
tive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) can be adjusted by turning the

Cleaning and Disinfection
Before cleaning or maintaining the unit, be sure to stop the oxygen supply to the unit and discon-
nect the unit from the oxygen supply source. Cleaning or maintaining the unit in an environment
where the oxygen concentration is high may cause a fire or an explosion.
Clean and disinfect the unit whenever you notice any dirt or stains, which might cause infection, on
MAINTENANCE
the unit.
After cleaning and disinfection, reassemble the removed parts correctly and make sure that the unit
operates normally.
Obtain a soft clean cloth and a disinfectant solution for cleaning and disinfection.
❋ Do not use any abrasive, cleaner, alcohol, acetone or other solvent for cleaning and disinfection. Do not
autoclave.
CAUTION
Do not use ethanol to disinfect the plastic parts of the unit.
Avoid using sodium hypochloride, which will corrode metals.
