ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

Environmental pollution occurs when multiple gases harmful to health, both chemical, biological
and physical alter the environment in which we live. It is considered that an environment is
contaminated when they change their characteristics and threatens the health of living beings and
the quality of natural resources.

Environmental contamination can occur both natural pollutants such as by the action of man. The
human being is the main culprit for the pollution of rivers, sea, air and land by industrial,
commercial, agricultural, home and mobile activities.

CAUSES OF POLLUTION

• Domestic Solid Waste

• Industrial Solid Waste

• Excess fertilizer and chemicals

• Tala

• Burning

•Trash

• Carbon monoxide vehicles

• Drains sewage or contaminated sea or rivers

EFFECTS OF POLLUTION

Environmental health experts and cardiologists at the University of Southern California (USA),
found that air pollution in large cities affects cardiovascular health. It was found that there is a
direct relationship between the increase in particulate air pollutants in the city and thickening of
the inner wall of the arteries (the "intimate media"), which is a proven indicator of atherosclerosis.

The lingering effect of air pollution breathed in a silent process of years, eventually leads to the
development of acute cardiovascular disorders such as heart attacks.

Toxicity to human health, human beings are exposed to POPs through food, the most important of
which are rich in fat (meat, fish and other commodities). As a result of studies conducted in the
United States found such substances in burgers, ice cream and pizzas
In recent years it has accumulated scientific evidence to link exposure to specific POPs with health
effects. Among these consequences are:

• Cancer

• Impairment in neuronal behavior, including learning disorder, low mental performance, and
attention deficit

• Changes in the immune system

• reproductive deficiencies

• Reduction of breastfeeding mothers in infant age

• Diabetes

MAIN COUNTRIES AFFECTED

MEXICO

Mexico City is considered one of the most polluted cities in the world. Pollution is a big problem
that is growing every day and that affects its inhabitants and the environment. It started about in
the seventies and so far there has been no proposed solution to end the conflict because it is a
problem that is already risen from its inception to the present.

CHINA

It is the main polluter of the planet when talking about emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs).

1. 500,000 deaths a year from pollution atmosférica.-

It increased the population and industries, it is estimated that 700,000 people die each year. Chai
Jing again confirmed the correlation between smog and cases of lung cancer

People should use a mask to "protect" somehow inhalation of toxic gases.

The study revealed that Beijing's air has 15 carcinogens.

BRAZIL

Amazon deforestation, poaching, pollution of soil and water are worrying problems in Brazil. The
Tiete River in Brazil is one of the most polluted in South America. This river has been and remains
key to industrial development experienced by Brazil since 1940.No is only a transport route for
about 700 kilometers, also provides hydroelectricity piece.
U.S

At the forefront of technology and yet it is in second place in CO2 emissions and fertilizer use. It is
also in second place in relation to water pollution and endangered species. Bekersfield in Los
Angeles and California have the highest rates in environmental pollution.

INDONESIA

Indonesia is one of the most polluting countries. The destruction of forests and torbuteras is the
main source of contaminación.En less than 50 years has reached 40% of deforestation. Indonesia
emits about 10 tons of CO2 per person per year, a similar rate to European countries. Between
2000 and 2006 one million one hundred thousand hectares of forests were lost.

INDIA

In soil contamination and use of fertilizers India is also second on the list. According to WHO is one
of the worst in relation to environmental pollution.

CONSEQUENCES IN THE FUTURE BY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION

The biggest problem the world will face is the difficult access to water, the less frequent rainfall
and lack of irrigation in general. Production of major products such as wheat will decrease by
approximately 14%, that of rice by 11% and corn by 9%.

The same damage will be experienced in the livestock sector, which will not have enough grain to
raise animals. The prices of meat will increase by about 20%.

POLLUTION PREVENTION

• Do not burn or cut plants

• Control the use of fertilizers and pesticides

• Do not throw garbage in inappropriate places

• Regulate the urban cleaning service

• Create public awareness

• Create pathways drains for industries that do not reach the seas and rivers used for service or
consumption of man or animals

• Check accidental oil spills

• Check the tailings
