Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?

A sandwich is made by putting different ingredients between pieces of bread. The ingredients can be

vegetables, jam, chicken, cheese, and beef. We can also put mayonnaise, mustard, or ketchup to

enhance its flavour. If we compare it with hotdog, it consists of a similar ingredients like cooked

sausage usually made of beef, pork, or a combination of meats, a bun, which serves as the "bread"

for the hot dog. Various toppings, such as ketchup, mustard, onions, sauerkraut is also added on the

top of sausage. Hot dog can classify as a sandwich because it follows the basic structure of

ingredients between bread. However, when hot dog is eaten, we typically grab it from the sides to

keep the sausage and toppings inside the bun. For a sandwich we hold them from the top and

bottom. Furthermore, the bread of a hot dog is not fully sliced open, while sandwich bread is

different. Based on the facts mentioned above I believe that hot dog is not a sandwich because the

ingredients which is placed between the buns are made up of sausage. If we place the sausage in

sandwich bread, or bun we cannot eat it because it will slip.
