There was an old man who had a lot of money, but he didn't like to spend it. He always said: «I don't buy meat and fruit because I can eat bread and drink water. I don't buy new clothes because I can wear my old trousers and my old shirt. If I spend my money, I shall have it no more. If I hide the money, I shall always have it». So he put his money in a box in the ground under a big tree. Every Sunday he went to the tree, opened the box and looked at his money. He did the same thing for many years; he never spent his money but always put some more into the box. One day he came to the tree, but the box wasn't there. «Oh, my money! My money! » -he shouted. «Where is my box of money? Somebody has taken my money! What shall I do without it? » The people heard him and they began to ask him questions and the old man told them his story. «It was a bad man who took your money, » said a woman, «and we shall try to find him». « But what shall I do without my money if you don't find the man? », asked the old man. «What did you do with your money when you had it? » said the woman. « Nothing. » So get some beautiful stones, put them in a box, hide the box and go there every day to look at them.
